submitter I bet there are homeless people in this country who think it's pretty asinine that you spend $5/month to post anonymous thoughts on a web site... yet i don't see them telling you how to spend YOUR money.

Right?

How do you know subby is a TF'er?

I had quite a few articles greenlighted and was not a TF'er.

Anyway, back on the topic, I have to think of something I can sell these suckers. Something useless, expensive, and that the kids will grow out of in a few months, making the fools buy the next larger size so they can impress their friends.

Well, back on topic....

The most ignorant thing I ever saw for a baby was this idiotic piece of cloth you put over the handle of a grocery cart so the kid won't get germs. I saw it and I wanted to cause a scene that would have got me on the evening news.

There are billions of people who live on less than $1/day.

My mom tried to give me a pattern for this to sew myself. I said I'd never use it. I've seen a few people with them, but I just don't see the point. Kids have been in those all the time for a billion years. And before there was shopping carts, they lived in houses where the floors were dirt. And we still survived.

Gahbrone,/b> take your vile to FoxNews. I agree with subby; cashmere is wasted on the babies. And why can't he point out the stupidity of it ? Personally, I would like to see these parents take their annual salary, and spend it all on a jewel encrusted disposable diaper for their kid.

I always laughed at the parents who bought their toddlers Michael Jordan branded skeakers back in the day.

cashmere is an amazing fabric. it is lightweight and great against the cold - it's amazing how well it insulates. I have a cashmere sweater that's great for traveling and cashmere gloves. Sure they are expensive.

even silver spoons had a purpose at a time.

now how about giant collections of dvd's - that's wasteful.

Spending just a few summers as a child at my grandparents' farm in Yugoslavia did wonders for my immune system. I've only been sick a couple times in 30 years. I once spent a week in a house with 4 other individuals that had the flu and I came out just fine. I weep for our pussified future generations.

Robo Beat 2006-08-13 07:20:25 PM
Or instead, you could buy me a cashmere sweater. The babies are just going to throw up all over it anyway, so why not give it to someone who'll appreciate its quality.

Well not all of us make a couple hundred thousand a year to waste on $100 clothes for our children, some of us have taxes to pay, rent, electricty, car payments, etc. Besides How STUPID do you have to be to waste a wad of money on something that is going to be grown out of in 3-6 months, ESPECIALLY if its for a baby...

$300 carseat - sure, because it's the safest out there. $100 sweater - hahahahaha, heck no. My husband and I have better things to do with our six figure salary than buy baby cashmere. Target clothes are just fine for mom, dad AND baby.

*shakes head*

The woman in the article talks about how she doesn't have time to find the one cute thing in the ugly store or to shop for bargains. It's odd that she has time to clean cashmere, and I find it doubtful that she would actually dress her kids in something stained.

It seems that she has two little girls, she should only have to shop for one, tops. I got hand-me-downs from multiple sources, and my younger sister rarely got anything new. If this lady is so good at cleaning, her kids should be in "retro" stuff from the thrift shop- if it's already survived another kid, it's probably high enough quality for hers.

Kumana Wanalaia: People who put wealth before well being are compensating for something. People who have wealth and still have to compensate....

Buying expensive things isn't wealth. Wealth is investing your money. Read "Millionaire Next Door." The millionaires in this country aren't buying those things. The people who buy this stuff may make a lot of money, but they don't have a lot of money.

DrBrownCow 2006-08-13 07:47:53 PM
I can say that a lot of this stuff isn't bought by the parents. We have a few nice things for our daughter and didn't ask for it or buy any of it.

Elaine: (opening the present) Oh George, this is beautiful. Is this cashmere?

George: Of course it's cashmere.

Elaine: Oh, I love cashmere.

George: Well who doesn't.

Elaine: My, George this must have cost a fortune.

George: Ahh, money.

Elaine: Jerry, how could you let him spend so much money?

Jerry: I tried to stop him. I couldn't. He just wants to make people happy.

Elaine: George, this is one of the nicest things anyone has ever given me.

George: Well good, good. Take it off you're going to wear it out already. It's for special occasions this thing.

Kramer: What's that red dot on your sweater?

The big bucks is in selling "image" to these insecure twits.
Just like an H2 sells an image, overpriced designer crap for babies is selling an image. The more they pay the better it is, because they can rub it in someone's face or just fantasize about it.

Funny, I was thinking the very same thing. It's a little strange to think though, that she might not have time to shop for bargains. Kmart and other type stores are always cheaper than, say, a child-sized Dior outfit, and a lot of people can't tell the difference. Then again, I'm a little bitter about always receiving hand-me-downs. That was all I got while growing up, except for shoes, until I started buying all of my own clothes. And I was the oldest child.

maggie1971 2006-08-13 08:15:33 PM
So silly...yeah, I work hard so my kids can go to a good school, and yes I spend money on their dental appliances, eye exams, and buy them some neat toys for their birthdays. But clothes???? Spend your money on something that will last and mean something six months down the road. My mother bought my kids ridiculously expensive clothes when they were toddlers and I would have to frantically try and remove stains before her visits... Buy your kids clothes at Target or the clearance rack at the mall and you find you don't care so much about the ketchup stains. Kids are MEANT to get dirty and messy and they're completely built for comfort. I teach a science camp for pre-k kids every summer and it only takes ONE day of messy goodness for the Dolce and Gabbano stuff the kids are wearing to be replaced with the cheapest t-shirts their moms can find.

Firebrand 2006-08-13 08:24:23 PM
I'm sorry, $100 is a lot of money now?

Half you farkers spend $100 for a sack of nugs you smoke up in a weekend. The other half, I'm sure you can think of something wasteful to do with $100.
