I'm sure no one will appreciate this, but Red Bull, cheap scotch, and a splash of pineapple juice makes for a refreshing summertime swilling drink.

I sold my wedding ring and the ugliest of my 3 children to support my alcohol addiction. Kiss those delirium tremors goodbye! I keep my dignity in a St. Ides 40 bottle in the back of the fridge

Feh, in America many of us walk for fun. In Germany they put the beer hall at the end of the trail or on top of the mountain. Not to mention the one that is within walking distance already. Wake me up when we can compete with that.

I drink to keep my cholesterol in line. The fact that ethanol consumption makes my work environment bearable is just a side benefit.

We have to, we're constantly warned that there is an impending terrorist attack. Who wouldn't get blitzed if they were aware of impending doom.

I think you have to beat some light weights before you challange them. Maybe start off against, Suadi Arabia or Eithiopia.

How about 3 drinks a day?
That's not even a case of beer a week!

Sure, if by "drinks" they mean "CASES."

Lordy...

fnottr 2006-08-02 11:21:34 AM
According to TFA:

Drinking is less common among lower-income households; 82% of Americans who live in upper-income households (annual incomes of $75,000 or more) say they drink compared with 44% of those with incomes less than $30,000.

I'm gonna drink myself rich tonight!!!!1!

Need help- as a loyal Pennsylvanian, I can no longer bring myself to purchase Rolling Rock (is it because its owned by A-B, or that its now made in Newark, is it the loss of local, working-class people, the fact that it won't be made in glass-lined tanks, or the fact that it will still have the same slogan about PA on the bottle? I'm not really sure). Yeah, yeah, its piss/horrible/an abomination, but I've loved it for years. Any suggestions on something thats 1)similar tasting and colored, 2)drinkable on a daily basis, and 3)affordable on a daily basis. I've tried JW Dundee's pale ale, liked it, but its not the same. Anything out there close?

Gigitty_Gigitty 2006-08-02 11:22:53 AM
I mixed some wikkid vodka tonics last night... I had a little leftover lemon sorbet, and a fresh lemon for juice and a twist. The vodka is always kept in the freezer so it was all nice and cold... I got it to about 50/50 vodka/tonic (not counting the lemon and such) and DAMN was it good...

Hey theeasterndandy
Don't knock the drinking prowess of Ethiopians. Try knocking back some Ethiopian honey mead with bits of bee floating in it sometime. *shudder*

The doctor says I'm livin'
On precious borrowed time,
WIth all the time I'm givin'
To liquor beer and wine.

The X-rays of my liver,
look like molded old swiess cheese,
My heart pumps blood and alcohol,
Through hardended arteries.

Every body knows me,
Down at the local bar,
I drink until I can't see,
And I wonder where you are.

I guess I let my health go,
Since you quit bein' mine,
But there was nothing to replace you,
Except liquor beer and wine.

Liquor, beer, and wine
Is the flashing sign I see
Ever single morning I get up
It's buzzing down at me

I look up to the heaven's
For a ray of hope to shine
And there it is in neon,
Liquor beer and wine

Ever since you've left me
I've lived out of my car
Parked between the liquor store
And Uncle Bubba's bar

Booze helps ease the heartache
But your constantly in mind
As constant as that buzzing noise
Of Uncle Bubba's sign

Two for one special: Drink Yuengling, piss Rolling Rock.

It's as cheap (sometimes cheaper) than RollingRock, FAR more drinkable, and still in PA.

Wow, looks like you're all making up for me... I don't drink at all

I've never been a fan of Rolling Rock, it's too light tasting for me. If you're looking to stick with a local brew, I'd suggest Yuengling. It's been my beer of choice for a number of years due to the fact that it's a fairly decent quality lager that's inexpensive.

Iron City tastes more like Budweiser than Rolling Rock, but it's definitely closer than Yuengling. Might be harder to find outside the Pittsburgh area, and in my opinion it sucks, but I'm a beer snob.

Oh, we can never catch up to Britain. We shouldn't even try.

Indeed, it's futile! Better chance at winning an argument with Tatsuma.

Bah, so close to the simul-post. But much love, fellow Yuengling drinker.

Well, with all that constant temptations to drink booze, snort coke and screw hookers... in Utah. It must take great willpower.

Myself, I'd be doing 140mph westward on I-95 inside a week.

I'm a cheap date (Southern Comfort and Diet Coke). My wife, however, likes more elaborate drinks, and I'm happy to oblige. I did some experimenting with the Mai Tai, and came up with the following recipe:

1 oz. Bacardi Coconut Rum
1 oz. Meyers's Dark Rum
1 oz. Grand Marnier
½ oz. Amaretto di Amore
1 oz. Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice
1 oz. Bar Syrup

If you don't know how to make bar syrup, it's easy. Slowly stir 1 lb. granulated sugar into 13 oz. of hot water in a saucepan.

I can't tell you how much of a difference the "good stuff" makes. I'm not using the absolute best possible ingredients, but the cheap dark rum, amaretto, or triple sec instead of Grand Marnier will have a serious negative impact the taste.

To make a pitcher of them, just change ounces to cups. I like to make them slushy by putting them in the freezer for a while.

Emjoy!
