I'm interested in the Weber Ranch Kettle or the Bar-B-Chef Texas Charcoal Grill. I like to cook with real wood. I have a New Braunfels smoker and a stainless gas grill already. I also want to get a good quality smoker like a BBQ pit by Klose

remsomnos 2006-07-31 12:25:12 AM
The coolest BBQ pit I've seen is the one my dad made when I was about 10. It was roughly 3ftX3ftX4ft tall, had a large grill on top, a water spigot (just connect hose) and a wood burning oven. Naturally he was a true BBQ chef, no charcoal only wood. No BBQ sauce; Rub the spices in! I swear that man would make a rack of ribs that took a spatula to take off the grill or the meat would slide off the bone if the rack was picked up with tongs.

totalsecurity 2006-07-31 12:30:30 AM
I'm building one out of stone right now, but have only the first 2 courses laid.

Turns out to be a lot more work than I thought.

I also only use real wood, but some Russian friends told me how the make charcoal using a retort. Since I have thousands of birch and alder, I figure I will make one.

The Table Is The Grill!
With Cook-n-Dine flameless cooking grill/table, you can cook and eat at the same place, literally! The center of the table heats up to form a cooking pit - you simply place your food and cook it there without the use of any pots or pans (the heated portion will turn into a concave pit).

Mmmmmm....Korean barbecue.

420Greg, what is the base of that grill made of. Is it some type of stone or wood? I wouldn't think it would be wood, but I can't tell from the angle. Was that grill custom built as well?

That is one manly piece of furniture.
