What if you want Robster Craws?

jal7884 2006-07-28 11:46:29 AM
There are lot's of restaurants, in waterfront towns, that will prepare the things you catch. 10.95 for a salad, baked potato, and cook the fish you caught. Works better than bringing your own eggs to the diner. They hate that

Egoy 2006-07-28 11:49:52 AM
Sounds like fun, but how would I get beef sashimi or unagi?

not sure of the spelling of those things but they are two of my favorites.

Blues_X [TotalFark] 2006-07-28 12:05:50 PM
Egoy: but how would I get beef sashimi

That would be at the steer wrestling restaurant down the street.

Egoy 2006-07-28 12:12:46 PM
But I don't want my beef cooked :(

strangeguitar 2006-07-28 12:31:49 PM
Will they provide the rods and/or dynamite?

Popeil Zauo!

/Why yes, I did recently suffer severe brain trauma. Why do you ask?

BenjaminFarklin 2006-07-28 01:37:50 PM
Meh...

Did that with my kids at a restaurant 15 years ago. Hostess gives you a fishing pole, and points you toward the trout pond out back.

Shrinkwrap 2006-07-28 01:38:11 PM
If that's photoshopped, I can't tell.

TFA:"I believe the fish are very happy, she says, to be eaten by us and thought so delicious."

Those Japanese have a weird thought process.

Seamless, brap. Gonna give Heamer a run for his money if you keep practicing!

This is an incorrect use of the 'spiffy' tag. See definition below. This is defintely not 'spiffy'.

Definitions of 'spiffy' on the Web:

dapper: marked by up-to-dateness in dress and manners; "a dapper young man"; "a jaunty red hat"
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

/just thought since we had a proper use of teh 'Ironic' tag earlier with no biatching I would attack someone over the use of the spiffy tag.

Bah, that's nothing. My local place serves primal soup as the appertizer and makes you evolve the fish for your main course.

/desert is for the birds

I wanted to be coffee

I thought the fish had to be freezed to kill the bacteria before eaten.

Say whaaaaat? Freezing doesn't kill bacteria (well, I guess 10 Kelvin or so could do some damage but that's not what we're speaking of here.

/hopes I wanted to be coffee doesn't cook
//and the five second rule isn't true either
///just so you know...

prolly be against US health codes. Food must be inspected/passed/from approved supplier etc. Imagine someone in the US doing this and getting sick afterwards? LAWSUIT dingdingding!

shidekigonomo [TotalFark] 2006-07-28 01:58:58 PM
Hey, my sister just ate at Zauo. She said the fish don't bite, though, so she and the rest of her table had to settle on Lobster. I tell you it's a scam, they just bring you in for the gimmick and then stick you with an expensive lobster.

darthaegis 2006-07-28 02:05:30 PM
~sigh~ and raises hand

I too fell victim to LOL'ing at work at the sight of Robster Craws.

Unless it's part of some large industry which must have political clout. How else would it be acceptable that 10% or more of chickens in the US carry salmonella (here it is newsworthy if it's discovered on a poultry farm)

Salmon has to be deep frozen to kill parasites.

Does Zauo have a restaurant in the US, or is it in Japan, only?

Is this the restaurant site: Zauo? (In Japanese.)

no_cookies4you : "I'm sorry, was this article even in English?"

Exactly what I was thinking. How did this person get a job writing?

Zap_Rowsdower 2006-07-28 02:24:27 PM
Talk about fresh seafood.

With clever writing like that, submitter could get a job doing headlines for such shows as Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight!

\don't think the fish think they are derichus

Sgian Dubh 2006-07-28 03:07:22 PM
my favorite japanese restaurant had the fish in a tank, and when you picked one out, they caught him, filleted half for the first round of sushi, and returned the fish to the tank to swim in circles until you were ready to eat the other half.

junior's shadow 2006-07-28 03:23:09 PM
Haven't you guys ever caught a fish and eaten it shortly thereafter? I admit, I did/do/will always cook them, but I don't find this unusual.

Calamitus 2006-07-28 03:24:03 PM
Sgian Dubh -

Did it swim in circles, helplessly?

/i'd eat it.

Uncle Bester 2006-07-28 03:58:17 PM
There is a local steak/seafood house (Twin Cities, MN) that has a trout pond/stream in the outside eating area.
If you want, they'll give you a little net to catch the little Rainbows with and then cook them for you.
Popular with the kids and pretty fun to watch.

Diebesbeute 2006-07-28 04:06:58 PM
Okay, a little complicated, BUT:

1) Google zauo and choose translate this page from the google list.
2) Click on Company Guide on the freshly translated page.
3) Halfway down the page ..."One, execution ratio is increased"....

Soon they'll be breeding us like cattle! You've got to warn everyone and tell them! Zauo is made of people! You've got to tell them! Zauo is people!

Quote from the story: "I believe the fish are very happy, she says, to be eaten by us and thought so delicious."

... you know, I shouldn't be so surprised at the stupidity of the human race. But I am. I am truly, truly surprised that people this ridiculous are allowed to walk around on their own. Idiot.

UberDave...
What the fark is a robster craw?

It is a joke. The japanese have no pronuciation for a "L" or "lah" sound. Instead it is substituted with a "R" or "rah" sound. So Lobster claws become Robster Craws.

I'd love to have a place like this in the US but PETA would go ape**** about it...

McKeesport Beer Baron 2006-07-28 05:54:00 PM
Christ, rattrap007.....You're the joke for posting that....

olddinosaur 2006-07-28 06:39:28 PM
If you are ever down in Key West, take Route A1A south along Roosevelt Beach; just before the road peters out and you have to make a right, you will see a boat ramp off to your left.

Sight along the boat ramp, and about 100 yards or so offshore, some 20 degrees left of the ramp, there is a big pile of rocks, just below the surface of the water.

Lobsters congregate there, you can catch them with your bare hands.

Perfect place to take a cute little Farkette first thing in the morning after a long night of thrashing around on the mattress: make her catch her own breakfast.
