Boobies

/ Obligatory

spacecorpse 2006-06-30 08:54:44 AM
I'm down with that

Thisbymaster 2006-06-30 08:54:54 AM
wait, the site of boobies in a booby showing off shop, could be offencive?

Adman12 [TotalFark] 2006-06-30 08:55:35 AM
Rebecca Cook of Burlington said she tried to use a dressing room at the store, but when one wasn't available, she prepared to breast-feed in the store. An employee said no, pointing her toward the mall's restrooms.

Cook said the store manager told her the employee probably thought the "sight of her breasts might offend a customer."

breasts are not just for show? that's unpossible!

I'm with Thisbymaster with a big ol' WTF???

Gothnet 2006-06-30 08:56:23 AM
Mmmm. Boobies.

Not that I think breast feeding isn't cool, but I must admit that when friends with kids start feeding in front of me I feel a little moment of awkwardness and a weird feeling of not wanting to look but having to. My problem though I guess...

MCStymie 2006-06-30 08:56:35 AM
Hmmm...There's a Victoria's Secret store at the local mall. Perhaps some milf-watching is in order.

/Yeah, go ahead and protest...I like the way you jiggle when you're indignant. What are you opposing again?

awachtel 2006-06-30 08:56:55 AM
Wow...just wow. What kind of a moron would think something like that is acceptable? Who gives a rats ass if it's a chick store.

Mr. Clarence Butterworth 2006-06-30 08:56:57 AM
This again? Not the story, the breastfeeding brou haha.

bmif 2006-06-30 08:57:53 AM
The chain said the store made a mistake and their policy is to allow mothers to nurse in their stores. They retrained their employees -- yet this group plans a nation wide protest. Sounds kind of stupid.

Oh well, some of the breasts will be worth looking at. I hope they publish the time that I should be dropping by the mall.

TheSignPost 2006-06-30 08:57:55 AM
I am not a fan of breast feeding in a store. At least go to the food court where food is the whole point. Breast feeding in a lingerie store is counter-productive for Vic Secret.

"Yes, this is what will happen if you buy our lingerie. Your female will be lactacting in no time."

/ jokes aside, not a fan
// breast feeding is not appropriate for a store
/// go somewhere else, semi-private
//// does the store allow food/drink to be consumed on premises? no? okay then

And please don't let this be a "I breastfed my kid until he was seven and there's nothing wrong with it" thread because that is sick, sick, sick. If you breastfeed your child to the point that they can walk up to you and ask, you are doing it for you, not for the child. They don't need it anymore, they can get their own milk from the damn fridge.

likelyculprit 2006-06-30 08:57:56 AM
Why do women have boobs?

So you've got something to look at when you're talkin' to them!

ha1fway 2006-06-30 08:58:01 AM
In response, the two moms have organized a national "Nurse-In" at the Victoria's Secrets across the country, not to protest the business but to make people aware of women's legal right to breast-feed in public.

Ignoring any arguments for or against breast feeding in public, a private store is not a public place.

The Woman in question.

RudMan 2006-06-30 08:59:32 AM
WTF is the problem? The store wants the dressing rooms to be used by customers. The dressing room is for changing clothes. Can I go into Victoria's Secret and ask if I can take a nap in the dressing room?

Adman12 [TotalFark] 2006-06-30 08:59:35 AM
I should also point out, though, that this is another example of an "activist employee" being a jerk and bringing the whole brand down with him (or her).

From TFA: Breast-feeding in public is legal, he said, adding, "We have a long-standing policy which permits mothers to nurse in our stores. We regret that recently our policies weren't adhered to, but that did prompt us to make sure to re-educate our associates and let the public know."

Isn't this similar to the official reaction to what happened at Starbucks?

The First 2006-06-30 09:00:01 AM
I have no problem with Angelina Jolie breast-feeding in public (esp if I am there)

Mr. Clarence Butterworth 2006-06-30 09:00:18 AM
So can you suck your girlfriend's tits in VS?

Discorporated 2006-06-30 09:00:28 AM
Would you like a nice pair of crotchless panties to go with your pop top?

/Wish I could get off work to enjoy the show at my local Victoria's Secret.

MrCab [TotalFark] 2006-06-30 09:00:45 AM
I don't know what up tight kids they have working at these stores today. Just give them a dressing room and a "do not distrub" sign. My Old Navy have 15 or so Dressing rooms. I let a mother in the back, we didn't come close to filling up (on a Saturday), and life went on. Seriously, how hard is this?

/has never seen a victoria secret dressing room
//probably wouldn't mind seeing one

1st of all,... eye bleach..
2ndly, I've got a lot of friends that live in Asheville, and the odds are very high that there'll be a lot more pit-hair visible than there will be breasticles.
/this thread is not in need of pics..

Shouldn't a company be able to set policy in their own stores?
WTF?

awachtel 2006-06-30 09:01:41 AM
One more example of morons protesting every damn time they can't pull some lunatic stunt, particularly as ha1fway said, in a PRIVATE store. Maybe they'll call the fuzz on these hags and a maylay will ensue.

Eat More Possum [TotalFark] 2006-06-30 09:01:52 AM
Since this is about 1/2 mile away, I think I'll drift over there.

fatal_exception 2006-06-30 09:02:21 AM
A protest or "nurse-in" or whatever you want to call it seems like an overreaction to me. An employee at a store made a decision you didn't like. Big deal. Get over it. You have too much time on your hands.

And OriginalGamer, you're a bastard. :)

When this thread is in full flame-mode, with some people talking about their "equal right" to masturbate in public, and others proclaiming that they'd like to squirt the squares in the eye with their liberated milk, I will scroll back to read your post. It will undoubtedly be the most honest and reasonable one of the day.

Thanks.

Rev. Skarekroe [TotalFark] 2006-06-30 09:05:51 AM
Have you guys been to a Victoria's Secret lately? It's somehow transformed from a lingerie store into a place that sells neon-colored skimpy sporting goods for 13 year olds.

I Love Happy Stuff 2006-06-30 09:06:06 AM
Um, it's not a public area... if V.S. wants their dressing rooms for something obvious, like, oh, I don't know... dressing? I feel they have every right to ask only for that. Just because you want to do "x" doesn't mean you get to do "x" anywhere you want.

/save 1st amendment stuff
//breast feeding isn't one of those
///let it go and feed your kid somewhere else, idiot.

I don't even understand why mothers bring babies to malls, or to movie theaters for that matter.

Babies should be banned from both. That would solve most of our problems.

TripSixes: Shouldn't a company be able to set policy in their own stores?
WTF?

Exactly. And their policy is to follow the law allowing breastfeeding in a public (as in "open to the public") place.

In other words, RTFA. Assuming you won't do that (or even RTFT) I'll quote it again: Breast-feeding in public is legal, he said, adding, "We have a long-standing policy which permits mothers to nurse in our stores. We regret that recently our policies weren't adhered to, but that did prompt us to make sure to re-educate our associates and let the public know."

It's the two managers in the story who broke the policy, not the nursing women. The managers didn't have the law, or policy, behind them. They were simply ignorant.

That said, the protesters should accept the corporate explanation, and expect to see some discipline handed down. There's no need to picket the stores.

SmnM4g1s 2006-06-30 09:13:22 AM
On one side, apparently this is the store's policy and should be respected.

But more broadly, Americans need to farking relax! Half the human population has boobies (more than half if you consider man-boobs). Also, it's not like you haven't seen them before.

/Unless you play D&D

Again: Corporate policy was not against breastfeeding in the stores. (Nor is the law.) The managers were acting without authority.

It's sounds like a good idea until you realize that Asheville is a hippie hellhole.

Sadly, these will be bad boobies

SmnM4g1s 2006-06-30 09:14:36 AM
sorry didn't read the farking anything, but my 2nd statement still applies.

debug 2006-06-30 09:15:43 AM
Why can't these women just use a breast pump and put the milk in a bottle for use when they are in a public location?

I think they just want the attention.

Adman12 [TotalFark] 2006-06-30 09:15:46 AM
SmnM4g1s: On one side, apparently this is the store's policy and should be respected.

Je. Sus. Christ.

One more time, from TFA: "We have a long-standing policy which permits mothers to nurse in our stores. We regret that recently our policies weren't adhered to, but that did prompt us to make sure to re-educate our associates and let the public know."

No need to complain. I'm done.

I agree. Breast feed all you want, but I don't want to have it shoved in my face. I don't get to show off my tits in public, and just because you have a kid doesn't give you the right to do so either.

You are a real American Hero, Mrs. TooGoodToBeTrueChick.

Yuo respond to boob posts with more boobs, you don't freak out in any annoying stereotypical female way, you're hot, and you like sports and beer.

So here's to you and your gingerclub membership, Mrs. TooGoodToBeTrueChick
