Well, I just posted this further down...way further down:

What a bizarre opening in Miami. After the weird pagentry, they play Robert Miles' Children while introducing the Mavs, follwed by some Phil Collins to introduce Pat Riley. W(ho)TF put this show together?

GO MAVS!

I'm just praying all those articles I read, especially in the Dallas Morning News, haven't jinxed us for calling that the series won't even make it back to Dallas.

its the NBA. noone cares

skankboy 2006-06-13 10:21:42 PM
Apparently no one does care. Boo Miami Boo Dallas

wilbo26: the series won't even make it back to Dallas.

I have mixed feelings on that. On one hand, it would be nice if they lose one in Miami, just so they can finish it off at home. On the other hand, if they sweep in Miami, then Dallas won't get the big bucks payoff they're hoping for by having more home games during the finals. Now, typically I would hope that Dallas did well financially. But with Laura Miller mouthing off about the money, I don't care. That biatch doesn't deserve anything going right for her after all the sports fiascos she's been part of.

Plus, what about that pot hole promise she got elected on?

About freaking time there's a discussion thread.
But alas...it appears not a lot of people care judging by the number of comments so far.

GO MAVS!!!

The format this year is 2-3-2, so Dallas would have to lose 2 in Miami for the series to return to their arena.

That's been the Finals format since 1985. Where have you been?

Yeah, yeah. I know. I was posting without thinking. An all too common occurrence when I'm multitasking.

Miami fans are awful.

I feel dirty even thinking this, but is Erick Dampier a legit candidate for Finals MVP? I mean the guy has been such a spare for the better part of 2 years, but he's done a ridiculously good job against Shaq. He's also been snagging boards all over and even dishing out some assists. Dirk is the obvious choice, but I'm amazed I'm even considering it. Somebody tell me I'm crazy.

Hell of a game....Heat by 1...little over 1 min left

Congrats Heat. Dwayne Wade was amazing.
and Gary Payton?

Okay okay okay, that was a good game, but the big question here is who was that hot blond in the seats behind Pat Riley?

ScienceRocks 2006-06-14 12:10:31 AM
Yeah, I hate to be "that guy" but Miami had a few of those real good calls late in the game. The foul that put Shaq on the line late was bunk, as well as that foul on Terry. That's 4 points at a critical turn around time for that game. I look forward to hearing what Cuban has to say.

Oh well. It was a good game either way.

I'm sick of hearing it; stop blaming any loss you have on the refs. You sound like Piston fans, maybe even worse. The refs working the Finals are the best. Yes, there are some bad calls but they happen to both teams. GET OVER IT

Heat fan?

Hey man. I didn't blame the loss on the refs. I only brought attention to two convenient calls at a crucial time that went in favor of the Heat. I'm the first to admit that Wade got in foul trouble over some ticky tack shiat. But hey, that's how the game rolls. Like I said, "it was a good game either way".

Who's the defensive one here?

never odd or even 2006-06-14 01:29:31 AM
Dirk should've gone for the dunk in the final seconds. Choosing layup cost them the game.

while I'll admit those fouls were BS, it still doesn't excuse the Mavs for blowing a 13 point lead. Heat desereved the game if that's how the mavs are trying to close out games. Should be interesting to see how they respond Thursday.

Boneshank 2006-06-14 02:33:36 AM
Blech... the refs have never regained credibility from the Jordan era.
Dan Crawford was in MJ's pocket in many games throughout the second three-peat. Poor Crawford must have felt lost or strangely unbiased for a few years. Thank goodness he has a new Jordan-type (Wade) from which to suckle.
Funny how he was the one who personally sent Wade to the line for 2 six times on iffy calls. Or how he - even though he was standing right there - looked the other way when Wade (with 5pf) kneed dribbling Terry at half court. Or how he (nor the others) neglected to call 3 different push-offs by Shaq on Dampier during the "comeback".
I know the NBA's gotta make their money by stretching these things out, but give me a break...

Nowitzki choked that freebie at the end, but it never should have even gotten there. Put an asterisk beside this one, along with LA's "win" in Detroit's five game sweep a couple years back. Luckily for Detroit they dominated so thoroughly that the refs could only watch. Looks like Dallas will have to do so from here on.

/Not a Mavs fan, nor a Pistons fan.
/Wants the deserving team to win always, not the "darlings".

Yeah, I blame how tired I was for that knee-jerk reaction. It's just that before the series started some Mav's fans and even some analysts said that the Heat would win a couple games but only because of the refs which pissed me off.

I've also been hating the Heat fans recently with there "Refs you suck!" chants at the games. I just wish people would just stop talking about it and realize the refs don't have slow-motion replay and may occasionally get some obvious calls wrong. It's part of the game like almost every other sport.

Agnosticator 2006-06-14 01:01:30 PM
Another thing; 12 non-Shaq missed free-throws? Can I get a goddamn made FT please? Jesus!

eh....not like almost every other sport. Bad calls are made routinely in every NBA game. Lots of them. The NFL has probably one or two really questionable calls per game. MLB has a few per season. NHL...I don't really know. But the NBA is so poorly officiated it is no longer fun to watch.

tglems 2006-06-14 02:06:31 PM
Damp was sitting there pushing Shaq just as hard as Shaq was pushing him, the only diff is that Shaq is stronger, so Erica need to stop whining. Also, what about the terrible calls against the Heat, such as when they called a foul against Shaq on Dirks fadeaway that was wrong. Shaq never even touched him. Dirk was 0-7 till that point, and then they called the technical on Payton for pointing out how wrong the refs were. This gave Dirk 3 shots to get on track, and really jumpstarted the Mavs comeback. I would say those were critical wrong calls. The iffy calls at the end of the game only served to even it all out. Officiating overall was pretty even this last game. Of course, no such thing in Dallas seeing as Cuban has the officials intimidated in the big D. I mean, seriously, in Game 2 there were some awful traveling calls on Shaq where he simply pivoted and that was it.

Hey, give the Heat credit; they wanted it more at the end then the Mavs did. Some good news for Dallas is that if the Mavs do end up winning it all now, then DJ Mbenga will get to celebrate with them (his suspension ends after game 4).

Go Mavs!
