Jeez...sanitation workers, port-a-potty cleaners, and safe crackers. Methinks someone is being a bit pessimistic.

When I was a kid my favorite was the Fuzzy-pumper Brazilian Wax Shop.

Is it wrong that i actually own the HAZMAT set when i was younger?

/parents used it as a "if you don't get good grades, this is what you'll become" threat

germaniac 2006-06-02 05:44:15 PM
Playmobil is awesome. The company is German, BTW. We always used to play Knights vs. Indians.

old skool gaming geek 2006-06-02 05:44:52 PM
An uncle and I have gotten into something of a weirdest-Christmas-toy gift-giving competition. He's getting a HAZMAT set this year for sure.

That's another one I taunted my parents with. "But mom, ten dollars an hour!"

burnitall 2006-06-02 05:46:55 PM
Wow. Two sweaty construction workers and a port-a-potty. I bet that plays well in the heartland.

Anybody else thik the author is projecting his fantasies onto those Playskool toys?

Earth Versus Soup 2006-06-02 05:47:09 PM
We brought my brother a playmobil haz-mat crew as a gift from a trip we took last year. He didn't say anything.

Shadow Fairy 2006-06-02 05:48:38 PM
I used to have a Playmobil set with Esso gas station workers. It even came with a little tool kit and tools, as if real Esso workers could also fix your car. I also had the little indian set with a tepee only mine wasn't as colourful as the one shown.

Pollexabator 2006-06-02 05:51:33 PM
Bah, give it a rest ThingaMaBaby, it's not like Playmobil is making hookers and pimps (I'd buy on for my desk, if the did :-). My complaint with PM is more the cost than the content. Great toys like Legos.

This site sometimes has interesting information, but other times it's a not so gentle reminder that some of my fellow Americans would love to raise their child in a hermetically sealed bubble safe from all things bad and dangerous...

Whatever 2006-06-02 05:52:10 PM
Well, they're certainly original...and the commentary was very amusing. I give this submission a 9.

You wonder where the productive junkies end up? They get rich thinking up children's television & toy ideas.

jmystikcfl 2006-06-02 05:55:30 PM
I knew there was a reason I liked them better than Legos. There's a huge PlayMobil store at the mall near me, I think I may have to step inside this weekend.

Can I have one of these Mommy????

I have to say I love these toys too. A while back I started collecting the really wacky ones. I have that executioner one too, as well as the ghost and the vampire. Looks like it may be time to add to my collection. I haven’t looked into Playmobile for quite a while...

mjsee [TotalFark] 2006-06-02 06:09:09 PM
Hey, that Hazmat set is cool. My nephew has it--he uses it with his firetruck, ambulance, and police sets...and then rescues people.

My boys always liked the pirates, wizards, and knights. Right up there with Brio trains. Expensive--but LOTS of play for the money. They are farkers now--but I am sworn to protect their identities.

Hi guys!

mjsee [TotalFark] 2006-06-02 06:09:56 PM
Oh--and the dragon and is way cool.

holeinmybucket 2006-06-02 06:13:20 PM
Remember, these are made in GERMANY. They love teh indians.

My kids got the guinnea pigs... didnt strike me as funny at the time but 'delighfully random' nails it...

ImJustaTroll 2006-06-02 06:15:23 PM
Bah, in my day we had transformers and GI Joes and crap.. and you know what? We thought they blew up pretty darn well.

//Vandalism was the funnest toy.

Maizrim 2006-06-02 06:24:00 PM
Andy Richter brought these crazy sets with him when he came back to visit Conan one night. (when Andy Richter Controls the Universe was still on the air)

Pretty funny stuff.

Clint Zombie 2006-06-02 06:25:25 PM
If those lil' HAZMAT guys are permanently sealed in those suits, they're only a tiny bicycle and a radio/shotgun away from the E.T. Government Capture playset!

And the sanitation guy only comes with the fish skeleton?!

What a rip-off!

parkerlewis 2006-06-02 06:28:45 PM
I'd rather be a sanitary engineer than work retail at the mall.

IsThisRingworm 2006-06-02 06:31:54 PM
I had a few of these sets when I was a kid, including the much coveted Pirate Ship, which in my mind was even better than the Millenium Falcon. We had a few of the Indian sets too, and would turn the peace pipes upside-down to give the pirates machine guns. yarr.

zarnik 2006-06-02 06:35:57 PM
And the sanitation guy only comes with the fish skeleton?!

nah....he comes with Ken too

/ghey
//fishy fetish
///I think his name is Troy Mcclure

As someone with pet guinea pigs, I was delighted to stumble upon the children and guinea pigs set a year or so ago. I still haven't purchased it, but I like knowing that I can re-enact feeding time in the future, if ever the need arises.

1. It's a robot
2. It's got a light sensor
3. Other toys want my kid to be a sanitation engineer

That's enough justification. Thanks Thingamababy!

One_Cent_Tenth_Spatula 2006-06-02 07:07:37 PM
BAH! That list is crap without the drunken Victorian hobo! Who wouldn't want this guy...

HOBO!

johnnyrocket 2006-06-02 08:08:40 PM
laugh out loud...

Great sentiment, but it's just too much to type, I wonder if there could be a way to portray said feelings but without typing all those words, it's just too much to type everytime you feel like laughing, you happen to do it OUT loud, and you want everyone on the internet to know.

punto 2006-06-02 08:28:45 PM
What's the big deal? all these people are valuable members of society, and we wouldn't be able to function without them.. They deserve respect (except for the safe crackers, and maybe Santa; you just know that guy has a boner under those santa pants..)

Mikey_B 2006-06-02 08:56:51 PM
That's why I'd give my kid all the LEGO they could have, and if they ended up creating a safe-cracker out of that then I'd be proud.

yotta 2006-06-02 09:07:39 PM
They missed the Suits in cuffs: perp walk edition. (as apposed to the perv walk edition)

Noticed this one in the catalog when my son had a birthday. Had to go look it up because no one believed me.

Best $10 I ever spent. It sits on my desk.

Apparently I was the only person who read the headline as "Playboy". God, I need to get more sleep.

Darkfalz--

I have the "Hooded Executioner Figure", too! It's a scream.
Got it at Harrods w/2 friends--we bought 6 of them b/w the 3 of us. The clerk must have thought we were insane.

it just so happens that because
of the wide diversity of roles
playmobil character employ they
are used in therapy.
in the case of autism playmobil
toys are used to teach about
community roles, it may be that
some of these sets were produced
with a therapy purpose in mind.

NOW SEE!! This is the job I want. Dreaming up persian-bizarre childrens toys. Man, the guys down at Playmobil must be hitten on the uber-sheeite!

fragMasterFlash 2006-06-03 12:31:58 AM
My son likes to play the safe cracker Flash game on the Playmobil website. And yes, the bad guys end up in Playmobil PMITA prison.

FunkOut [TotalFark] 2006-06-03 12:48:52 AM
I had the Indian Playmobil set when I was a kid. The Indians had a totem pole, a teepee, a peacepipe, and a canoe. I never heard of a tribe with totem poles AND teepees. The artwork on the teepee was Haida, Pueblo, and Plains. Only one of those groups had a teepee either.

Or is that spelled tipi?

I also had the hospital set. I made the Indian Chief into the head surgeon, I mean, the guy with the feathered hat is always in charge.

Playmobil nativity scene + Playmobil pirates = perfect Xmas decoration.
