Some day, every store will just be another corporate chain. Get used to the Denny's experience, it could be considered fine dining.

Why is it that drinks at your local hippy coffee shop cost the same if not more at starbucks. You get free wifi at both as well.

Oh, not as many people go to the local hippy coffee shop? Well then, its not trendy so I can still go there..for now.

Starbucks has had talks with musicians Jagger, Bono, Prince and Chris Martin about promotional links with CDs,

On the day I find out U2 is shilling cd's at Starbuck's, I'll burn every U2 cd I own - which is all of them. I'll not listen to any band that associates themselves with this place either.

Here in Engerland, Starbucks coffee is just about the crappiest of any of the chain coffee shops. Too weak. I prefer Cafe Nero, if I have to go to one of those places.

Love my little stove-stop espresso pot though.

I don't drink there because it is too expensive and you don't become rich wasting money.

I do own the stock because there are a lot of people who waste money.
And I've been very pleased over the years.

Why? What do you care? How awful of to spread his/her music in retail stores.

If you wipe the froth from your mouth (pun intended), you might see that they offer decent compilations of sinatra, dean martin and other decent artists.

I had nothing against Starbucks until they refused to sell a Bruce Springsteen CD just because he sang a song about having buttsecks with a hooker.

As far as I'm concerned, if Bruce wants to sing about paid anal sex, then we should just trust the Boss in every decision he makes and should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens.

Also, I love how these kind of claims inevitably get turned in to some story about how everyone in the world will be drinking starbucks and only starbucks...

What a bunch of crap. Starbucks has the worst reputation in S America for unfair trade practices for buying coffee. Of course they say they sell the most fair trade coffee - because they sell the most coffee period. They don't show their "fair trade" numbers as a percentage of coffee imported. They control the growers and fix prices. What a bunch of assholes.

Silly myth. You can walk into any starbucks and walk out with a cup of normal coffee for around a dollar.

Quit buying into the trendy "starbucks is teh suck because its popular!" nonsense

Is it impossible to get a cup of coffee flavored coffee, in this country anymore?

What happened with coffee? Did I miss a f**kin meeting?

You can get every other flavor except coffee flavored coffee.

They got mocachino, chocacino, cappucino, frappacino, Al Pacino....WTF?

Starbucks coffee is good. Assuming that you like coffee that tastes like the crust from the bottom of an iron skillet mixed with paint thinner.

Agrees with 'teh nasty' sentiment expressed above.

No, you are not. I came in here just to say exactly that. Any general criticism you can make of Starbucks (smug, overly self-referential, lowers the bar, crappy quality disguised as hip new social awareness) can be just as accurately said of USA Today. I was in journalism school when it debuted, and I still can't believe anyone actually reads that piece of sh#t.

"It amazes all of us -- how we've become part of popular culture," says Chairman Howard Schultz, sitting casually in his office near a photo of him arm-in-arm with Mick Jagger. "Our customers have given us permission to extend the experience."

No we haven't. Stop pretending that you're a "way of life", retards. Shut the fark up and just make my damn coffee. I'm in a hurry.

Because part of their official business plan is finding out how much the average cup of joe from local roasters costs, and then marking that price up like 10% or so for their own coffee.

Makes them seem trendy, exclusive, and gourmet.

Honestly though, Starbucks isn't that bad of a company, ethically speaking. They pay well, give benefits, sell a product that leaves a comparatively small footprint.

Of course their coffee tastes like roasted bird poop.

szyska 2006-05-30 09:06:44 AM
I don't drink coffee at all, I get my caffeine cold and carbonated. Besides, there are way more Dunkin's around where I am then there ever will be Starbucks. Even Krispy Kremes was sent packing from around here. They'll be marginal at best, but this is just New England.
