I heard a guy say he might only be able to stud thru artificial means. Even if he survives they don't know if his hind leg could stand the pressure when mounting a filly.

What a bummer.

When I asked him "Are you going to die?" he said "No, I am an immortal robot." Glad that's working out of him.

Later when I said "Suck it Barbaro!" he said "I am using my mouth for Good not Evil." Very sage horse.

Having lost my daughters first horse in october I applaud the owners. I still miss my big white friend Shadow. He had a colic episode that was fatal we got him to the horse hospital while he was stil alive but they said he probably would not survive the surgery and then the post op care is also problematic. The hardest thing I have ever done was to call my daughter from the horse hospital and tell her she had to say goodbye. We have another horse now , it was a bit soon after Shadow, but she needed us and it helped heal my girls heart. If I had had the money these owners do I'd have gone for it too.

THank you boy, I miss you.

That horse is never going to be able to pass through airport security again. He's got more steel plating than that crazed Viet vet who rambles and pisses himself on Market street.

I want to know what insurance plan he's on. Mine thinks tetanus shots are "optional" after an animal bite. I suspect their protocol would be to shoot me if I broke my leg.

I would figure Tetanus wouln't be an issue, unless that particular animal had rusty nails for teeth. Rabies, on the other hand...

Stud through "artificial means" isn't an option. A thoroughbred can't be registered unless it was conceived through natural cover breeding. It can't race unless it's registered. So unless he can breed normally, there's really no point in breeding him unless you want a very fast horse for recreational riding.

Wow. I can't even find the words. I would say that I lost even more respect for Philadelphia's local news outlets, but that would imply that I had some in the first place.

This overgrown suburb is downright scary when it comes to local news mixed with sweeps mixed with sports.

Annual proof: Eagles coverage in January

How exactly can anybody tell how a mare got pregnant from artifical means or from the other horse banging the hell out of its cooter?

I would figure Tetanus wouln't be an issue, unless that particular animal had rusty nails for teeth.

Threadjack Factoid: tetanus is an anaerobic bacteria, related to botulism, which lives in soil and the intestinal tracts of mammals, including humans. Has nothing to do with rusty nails except that a hundred years ago most rusty nails you stepped on were covered with horse shiat. Deep wounds, especially punctures, can incubate tetanus because the bacteria are not exposed to the air.

The vaccine (last I checked) lasts for about ten years, so if you were innoculated in the last ten years before being bitten by an animal, that should make a vaccination unnecessary. That's probably the optional part.

Tetanus manifests in massive muscle spasms that effectively stop your breathing.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

So, let me get this straight, in the US a horse gets expensive medical treatment but poor folks can piss off and die?
