which indicates the grounds for impeachment: "the President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

...

The vice president presides over the Senate proceedings in the case of all officials except the president

So the vice president gets to preside over his own impeachment? That'd be pretty sweet - for the VP, anyway.

Why do you think Bush is never in Washington? Something like 90% of the city hates him. Maybe it has to do with the stench that emanates from the White House. The smell of BS all the time would upset me also.

Someone a few months ago posted a thought to think of 5 things that Clinton did to better the country and 5 things that Bush Jr did to better the country... Unfortunately I couldn't think of anything for Bush but I thought of enough for Clinton to cover him.

Headso: I would like to see a true believer in president Bush, answer that question. If you really believe in the man surely you can name 5 things he has done to better the country.

I can answer that for you:
1.) Faith-based initiatives on social services
2.) Praying to God for guidance of the nation
3.) The War in Iraq
4.) The USA Patriot Act
5.) The handling of September 11

See, they don't have to be things you agree with, or even things you can persuasively debate for. Most people who still believe in Bush simply believe in him - they have nothing more than pure, blind, gut-based FAITH in his ability. They think he did those things well, even if you can argue that he did them poorly. And they'll refuse to see your arguments, because it contradicts their faith.

Faith-based governance, as you can see, is pretty damned silly.

1. No child left behind -- A dismal failure, ask any teacher.
2. Patriot Act -- Domestic spying on American Citizens - IMPEACH!
3. Stopped sadaam hussein -- Under false pretenses, we had no legal justification otherwise. IMPEACH!
4. Stopped bin laden -- He is still active...what are you smoking and why aren't you sharing it?

Neo-cons are always a little slow to show up in these threads, therefor early posts of that nature are either trolls or sarcasm laden. This thread will hit about 250 posts and then die out as the next Bush bashing thread comes on-line. Hell I don't even bother reading the majority of the posts any more. I just look for the "b-b-but Clinton..." and go from there.

Anyone care to specify the articles of impeachment that would be appropriate - or are you just wet-dreaming?

h3lx 2006-04-07 09:16:51 AM
1.) Faith-based initiatives on social services
Can't tell if this is working or not as there is no oversight. Faith based assistance for Anglo Christian founded religion, descriminatory and biased.
2.) Praying to God for guidance of the nation
that just farkin scares me.
3.) The War in Iraq,
War of incidence based in manufactured immediacy that has cost more than all the other wars combined... with no real result save only the demonized bearded guy rallying the freedom fighters
4.) The USA Patriot Act,
which has yielded no additional results save only the creation of more government agencies with seemingly endless budget requests.
5.) The handling of September 11,
I could tear this one apart. Failure of NORAD, failure to recognize pre-9-11 intelligence, no NTSB investigations, lack of public disclosure, lack of cooperation in the 9-11 commitee investigations, throwing it in our face everytime he needs additional allocations to existing budget requests... he practically danced on the coffins to reelected.

Is being a moran an article of impeachment?

SpectralTech [TotalFark] 2006-04-07 09:23:34 AM
HappyDaddy: Anyone care to specify the articles of impeachment that would be appropriate - or are you just wet-dreaming?

I could post something about domestic wiretapping, torture, and lots more, and then you'd proceed to debunk them one by one with the reasons why you believe nothing wrong was done, and eventually it would degrade into namecalling and, if it's one of those rare circumstances, we'd agree to disagree.

So I'll save us the trouble and just say "no".

FARK is amusing but rarely do I see such animosity and blind hatred for opposing views. The name calling alone forces the bile of liberalism to burn my eyes.

Any helpful, positive thinkers out there on the left?

DragonSun 2006-04-07 09:26:57 AM
Wow... a whopping 83 people are demanding his impeachment on this site. I'm sure the number will rise by the end of the day with all the farkers that are going to add to this number. Of course based upon what the site was designed for they don't have an option for those that don't agree.

Makes me wonder what will happen if all these anti-Bush people will do if they do manage to get him impeached? It doesn't mean he will step down from his position, Clinton certainly didn't. And just to make it known, if you do manage to get him out of office it doesn't mean that the seat goes immediately to Kerry, I just had to make that clear because I still see more "I voted for Kerry" or "Put Kerry in office" stickers on the backs of cars in Florida, specifically Broward "Land of Hanging Chads" County.

I have to say this is amusing, because honestly I don't care anymore. I won't defend Bush because I don't agree with everything he has done, of course I don't disagree with everything he has done either. And if he is impeached how pissed off will all these left wing nuts be if he doesn't step down and continues to run things as he always has... I know the right wing nuts wanted Clinton to step down, successfully impeached him.. and how much difference did it make? None. Did Clinton hand in a resignation? No. If I remember correctly, Clinton was impeached (for something stupid, eventhough I didn't support him either) and yet he still managed to not only fulfill his 8 years, but he managed to hang on to the reigns even longer while they recounted, and recounted, and recounted again.

The only difference that I think we will hear if Bush is impeached is the countrywide hissy fit that the left wing supporters will have if he decides to do the same thing Clinton did and just remain in power.

Oh well, doesn't make a whole lot of difference anyway, as long as those that have money are running the country, it doesn't matter which side they are on... as long as I am not wealthy they sure as hell aren't on my side.

Headso 2006-04-07 09:28:52 AM

1.) Faith-based initiatives on social services
Can't tell if this is working or not

Great defense.

2.) Praying to God for guidance of the nation
that just farkin scares me.

It scares me that this scares you. Another great defense.

3.) The War in Iraq,
War of incidence based in manufactured immediacy that has cost more than all the other wars combined... with no real result save only the demonized bearded guy rallying the freedom fighters

And I bet you're one of those who wants to pull out before the job's done so that all those soldiers who laid down their lives are worthless. Nice.

4.) The USA Patriot Act,
which has yielded no additional results save only the creation of more government agencies with seemingly endless budget requests.

It was Congress who voted this in, correct?

5.) The handling of September 11,
I could tear this one apart. Failure of NORAD, failure to recognize pre-9-11 intelligence, no NTSB investigations, lack of public disclosure, lack of cooperation in the 9-11 commitee investigations

All of these failures would have happened in past administrations, Republican or Democrat.

There is no solid defense here.
