I support this. Remove "repeat" and I'd actively campaign!

MorningBreath [TotalFark] 2006-03-23 07:28:01 AM
pete and repeat molested a child. who got sentenced to death?

woodpecker from mars 2006-03-23 07:31:41 AM
It's too early. I read that as beating child molesters to death.

Which is fine by me, really.

CheddarPants [TotalFark] 2006-03-23 07:35:41 AM
I'd also support the death penalty for people who don't use turn signals.

Edsel 2006-03-23 07:36:39 AM
The Supreme Court will strike it down as cruel and unusual punishment and then we'll have to endure the next onslaught of Republican propaganda about "activist judges".

Netsloth 2006-03-23 07:38:41 AM
Edsel: "activist judges".

It makes me wonder why they would support pedophiles, too. Could it be that they have the same prediliction?

binnster 2006-03-23 07:40:32 AM
If only we could sentence them to be reborn and molested as children. I don't feel that I'm really getting my eye-for-an-eye policy satisfied with this proposed legislation.

Netsloth: It makes me wonder why they would support pedophiles, too.

What? How is that supporting pedophiles?

Well, they would support the legislation if they didn't enjoy buggering children, wouldn't they?

Netsloth: Well, they would support the legislation if they didn't enjoy buggering children, wouldn't they?

That's so ridiculous I don't even know where to begin.
That's purely an appeal to emotion without any logic behind it.

NineInchNader 2006-03-23 07:43:50 AM
If only we could sentence them to be reborn and molested as children.

Actually, that's how many of them supposedly got their start.

I think you MIGHT need to have your sarcasm detector checked this fine morning.

So you are saying that it's OK to bugger children?

No, but that's incidental.

Is it not working right? It's too damn early to be thinking.

I would think Netsloth was being sarcastic, if I hadn't seen the same kind of comments made by others who were being totally serious.

Oops. By the way, if you're not already a politician you should really consider running for office.

LurkinFarker 2006-03-23 07:55:04 AM
Well, this would certainly make a lot more sense than giving them a slap on the wrist and then making them put their picture and address on a website.

jharv 2006-03-23 07:55:13 AM
Can I get behind this while still opposing the abortion ban?

I hope so, 'cause I want to, as well.

Omnivorous 2006-03-23 07:58:34 AM
Yes, and let's start with the kindergarten teachers who hug the kids when they start crying.

Since we're so precise about what constitutes "molesting" and unpermitted sexual behavior.

Sloth_DC 2006-03-23 07:59:33 AM
Define "children".

HappyDaddy 2006-03-23 08:00:01 AM

ChairmanKaga: /My daughter is Billingual (English/Spanish)

While in English the word "molest" is almost always used in sexual terms. The Spanish word "Moleste" is used much more broadly, it us applied more like the traditional English definition; to disturb, interfere with, or annoy.

She tends to speak Spanglish and it freaks me out every time she uses the word moleste.

Let me guess: when you're in public (eg. in the mall) and you get on her nerves, she yells out: "Dad, stop molesting me!" I can understand how that can freak someone out. :)

slykens1 2006-03-23 08:03:43 AM
This would prevent recidivism.

Creates an interesting argument, however.

If you think about it, the English word still has the same origins - it's perversion into perversion is recent. Consider the word "unmolested" as in "walked down the street unmolested". In that sense, it is simply referring to being disturbed, rather than sexually assaulted.

As for the topic at hand, it just rubs me the wrong way to go a step beyond "an eye for an eye" and now go "an eye for repeated genital rubbings". While the existence of death penalty is an issue I'm never certain about, I always am quite sure it should be left to cases of murder.

Ender's [TotalFark] 2006-03-23 08:05:18 AM
In two words

HELL YES

0x1a4 2006-03-23 08:05:48 AM
Well, since there's a constitutionality issue with killing these sick bastards, can't we just lock them up forever, with absolutly no chance of getting out? It's easy - If you molest a child, and they lock you up and lose the key. And I'm not talking about the 19 year old with a 17 year old. I'm talking the 40 year old with the 12 year old. Sick farks.

JihadJoe 2006-03-23 08:05:53 AM
"I shall no longer tinker with the machinery of death. For more than twenty years I have endeavored--indeed I have struggled--along with a majority of this Court, to develop procedural and substantive rules that would lend more than the mere appearance of fairness to the death penalty endeavor. Rather than continue to coddle the Court's delusion that the desired level of fairness has been achieved and the need for regulation eviscerated, I feel morally and intellectually obligated to concede that the death penalty experiment has failed."
-Former Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun

Between 1973 and 1998 there were seventy three documented cases where innocent people were found on death row and released.

Abolish it.

Death by Misadventure 2006-03-23 08:06:05 AM
This is not a bad idea but I would like to extend this to almost all violent crimes and it should be on the first offense. If you don't want to play by societies rules then you must go.

craig328 2006-03-23 08:06:06 AM
Aside from the death penalty (which the detractor in the article had a good point...if they sentence the offender to death, does the abused child also carry that around on their conscience?), I've always wondered why they let a second time sex crimes offender out at all.

I've heard that there is no rehabilitation for those types...so, since that seems to be the case, what possible reason could there be for ever letting them out again?

StarshipPooper 2006-03-23 08:07:31 AM
We all know this their response to last night's South Park. I'm very disappointed Darth Chef didn't say "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooo!"

Three Crooked Squirrels [TotalFark] 2006-03-23 08:07:57 AM
No one's for child molesters, but sentencing someone to death upon the strength of a 7 year old's testimony is probably not such a good idea.

Pxtl 2006-03-23 08:08:42 AM
My approach to cases like this:

treat all dangerous criminals as insane, make use of the glut of unemployed Psych grads out there, and let them do a state-sponsored Masters' porgram in criminal rehabilitation. If your cases misbehave on release, you don't get paid.

Now, combine this with some rollbacks on the definition of "cruel-and-unusual" so that said students can use electroshocks, conditioning, etc. to help make sure the message of "touching kids is bad" gets across.

If we can't rehabilitate them, it just means we're not trying hard enough. Before killing them, consider abusing them until they behave. It may seem cruel, but execution is moreso.

AgeOfReason 2006-03-23 08:09:22 AM
Nothing like dumass redneck justice, what a farking stupid idea.

...I can see unintended consequence #1 being, more children are killed so that they don't talk, and the punishment is the same anyway.

madcatcasey 2006-03-23 08:09:57 AM
I fully support sentencing child molesters to death repeatedly.

Actually, sex offenders rank among the lowest in terms of recidivism. Petty criminals stay the course much more often.

That's a myth, actually. The rate of reclidivism among paedophiles is actually comparatively pretty low - it's just that the heir suburban nature makes people terrified of the idea of having a "convicted paedophile" living in their neighborhoods, and if one _ever_ does backslide after being released then it makes front page news because "THIS COULD'VE BEEN PREVENTED". When a gang-banging-thug goes into prison and comes out still a gang-banging-thug, nobody notices.

Firethorn 2006-03-23 08:11:12 AM
It's too early. I read that as beating child molesters to death.

How odd, I read it the same way the first time through. I though 'neat, but they'll never get away with it.'
