I'd like to stick up for my town and my state by saying 1) We are NOT the deep south, and 2) You can't judge us all based on Greensboro. In our state family, Greensboro is sort of the alcoholic step-brother who is 41, unemployed and lives with its parents. Your state has one too. Especially if you live in Indiana.

Ahh, Greensboro. The land of freight depots and gravel lots. Come for the airport and smokestacks, stay for the various ethnic grocery stores and Check-n-Gos.

i'm in winston-salem too. when i first moved here.. the biggest thing that i found odd.. when it rains.. people go nuts and have to buy milk and bread... and the fact that noone knows how to merge onto a lane.

I just drove through NC on I-95, and holy crap, it is the dirtiest state by FAR i've ever driven through. Don't they have any prisoners to clean up that road?

I have to say that while I do agree with you--my mama didn't raise me to hate either, I had black Barbie and black Cabbage Patch dolls when I was growing up because they didn't want me to be racist--I get so tired of being targeted because of my white skin color by minority "haters" that after a while, you can't help it.

What am I supposed to do, wear a Malcolm X t-shirt that says "MY GRANDPARENTS CAME OVER ON A BOAT FROM RUSSIA, THEY DIDN'T OWN SLAVES AND I DON'T HATE BLACK PEOPLE" every day? Why do I continually have to prove to minorities that I don't hate them? Because while white children are taught that "everyone is equal, regardless of skin color," minority children are taught that "Whitey hates you and is keeping you down and all white people are evil." MD is pretty much split though. If you are anywhere south of PG County - it's a NASCAR lovin', southern place. Same is true North-East of Baltimore County. Oh the eastern shore too.

Everywhere in the middle seems to be just fine though. Lots of diversity, and no racism that I have ever seen.
