Anyway, my friend drove her daughters 7' boa to L.A. and it got itself in her dashboard and won't come out. She can't drive the car like that and she wants to come home to NorCal. Two herpetologists from the L.A. Zoo have already tried to extract the Boa with no success.

Any ideas?

Damn. I just used to use a dead rat to get my snake out. If he just ate though I have no idea. Could try it anyways.

I will suggest that but part of the problem is that it became wedgeed in very tightly when the zoo dudes tried to pull her out and very little of her skin is exposed.

Alcohol, Cold, excessive vibrations. (Although the latter is a personality thing)

Hows about taking some dash components off. Subarus are not hard to do that with. (Although getting help on a saturday night might be hard.. check one of the subaru msg boards and see if you can find an expert)

How about water from the hose? Snake may think its safe place is going to fill with water and search for higher ground.

People used to get snakes out of holes by sticking a water hose down the hole. But the snake sounds really scared. Might have to just leave it alone for a bit until it decides it's safe to come out.

Yeah she probably is scared or just full of food and in a cozy little cave and ready to settle in for the winter.

It occurs to me that for a 7' boa to fit inside a dashboard so comfortably that it doesn't want to move, there has to be a helluva lot of wasted space inside that dashboard.

you don't have to freeze it out. just create a contrast. cold here, warm there. snakes prefer warm to cold. especially if it's eaten recently.
