I'll take "TV Pilots which would end poorly in the United States" for $600, Alex.

Right after that dude showed me the camera, i'd kick him in the nuts.

They should just go to inner city chicago, they wouldn't stand out. Muggings just like normal.

Jack31081 2005-11-30 10:46:09 AM
- Mike Karthauser was walking through the city centre to pay some money into the bank when the man jumped out on him.
- The web designer from Ashton Vale was on his way to pay in 200 of his company's money to the bank
- Mike, a father-of-one, said: "I was heading towards the bank, near Corn Street

- Mike, 30, said he was terrified he might be robbed or even stabbed.
- he thought the man was after his money or mobile phone.
- I thought I was going to have my mobile phone stolen, or get stabbed or something.

holy jesus that article was redundant.
they kept saying the same things over and over.
they'd say it once, and then repeat it again and again.

Come to the Texas, Florida, New Hampshire or any number of other states and try that stunt, idiot. See if you live to see the sun set.

Only in a nation where there is a relentless fetish for disarming the law-abiding could anyone ever think a stunt like this would be a good idea for a TV show. (UK, I imagine from the spelling and names. Didn't see anything specific)

Dude, I'm in. Let them mug me. I'll find the slimiest, fastest ambulance chasing lawyer I can and retire.

If this had been in America, it would have a Florida tag, or an Idiot maybe... and the headline would have been "TV crew shot when they try and mug unsuspecting passers-by for its new show"

I personally thought that the article made good use of repetition of elicit sympathy for the victim. The writer can put a slant to a story through that type of repetition.

koolkatzc:

I'm not saying it's possible to put it to good use, but it just felt overly redundant here. i kept picturing those twins from 'Snatch'...

'Yeah Dad, ya told us!'

I'd post a picture, but I don't think my company's web monitor would appreciate a google image search for 'snatch twins'

deadapostle [TotalFark] 2005-11-30 11:24:44 AM
I'm a native NYer and was almost mugged three times. I avoided getting mugged each time by punching the mutha farkas in the face. Honestly, mugs a guy who's 6' 225lbs w/ a muscular build?

burnviktm 2005-11-30 11:27:38 AM
They should thry that in Texas where people can carry concealed pistols. That would be a show I would watch!

"Gimmie your money!"

*bang*

"No."

I started with a GIS for snatch twins. I didn't expect it to be too helpful, but I did it anyway. Only two pages and not nearly enough pics of snatch. I then went to IMDB and found out that their names are Nikki and Teena Collins, so I GISed them.

Yeah, kind of like what GW did with all his 9-11/Al-Qaeda/Saddam speeches before the war.

Game. Set. Match.

Reeve 2005-11-30 12:11:10 PM
So... what happens when the mugg-ie whips out a knife and stabs the attacker in self-defense? Or beats him brutally at the least?

astroripper 2005-11-30 12:26:17 PM
This reminds me of this video clip (wish I had a link) of a prank show where a guy hid in a mailbox. People would try to put mail in, then the guy in the mailbox would push it back out the mail hole. Then some big guy with a 9mm tried to put some mail in, and when he saw the guy inside pushing his mail back out, he stuck his gun in the mail box, fired a few times, looked around, and walked away. I have no idea if the prankster lived or not but I'm guessing he did since the angle at which the guy was able to shoot in the mailbox was limited.

It would discourage asshattish ideas like that from ever seeing daylight?

Nah.

Still, one can hope.

Or maybe this one will actually work(cut and pastie):

All I read was that someone came running up and stood 3 inches away from his face. That was it.

Jesus, grow a pair.

Nothingman 2005-11-30 01:03:56 PM
so they terroize for their enjoyment, shouldnt this be prosecutablr under Britians anti terror laws? It sure as hell should be. These TV shows are getting worse and worse. Id like to see them give someone a heart attack, what if the guy had a heart condotion you know? Asholes.

godofusa.com 2005-11-30 01:10:16 PM
I completely agree jasonmicron

If that guy got within a foot of me I wouldn't have screamed like a little biatch but broken his nose.

/been mugged.. well people have tried to mug me twice..
/if there's no gun, you ain't gettin shiat

Mmmm... Baklava....

I usually end up wearing some of it, doesn't everyone?

uncleoengus 2005-11-30 04:44:48 PM
Reminds me of a bit I saw years ago on an HBO special about TV from around the world.

Dude standing on a streetcorner, when some other guy comes up, sets his briefcase down, and starts running. The other guy drops whaterver it was he was holding, and ran in the opposite direction. Cut to - Host laughing his ass off. It was from a middle eastern country, but I don't remember which one.

Charlotte 2005-11-30 04:50:34 PM
Mmm... balacava...

And forreals. That show would have a vastly different outcome in most places in the states.

C1ofUnknown 2005-11-30 07:41:03 PM
Watch Fox pick up this show.

However, I would have been pissed.

Renowned transvestite sexologist 2005-11-30 07:56:46 PM
Brits are wierd, I swear. They're lucky noone ended up hurt. Mug the wrong person and that knife might end up on the ground with your broken arm. Hell, in Texas you'd end up shot with the shooter hearalded a hero by the locals. I'm also surprised noone pressed charges. Someone fakes mugging me, even for a moment before point at a camera saying "ha ha, isn't that funny", I'd be dialing 911 telling them someone just treatened me with a knife and have them arrested.
