the magnetic ribbon cartel will never allow this bill to see the light of day.

"I thought why don't we do the same thing for all the tags in the state of Alabama. That will let all the people in America know that we are a Bible Belt state,"

I never knew that was something to be proud of.

Raise your hand everyone who gives a crap what some nut-ball in Alabama thinks?

"Raise your hand everyone who gives a crap what some nut-ball in Alabama thinks?"

*raises hand*

Today's nutball in Alabama could be next decade's President, given the oh-so-strong Democratic leadership we've been seeing. Better stop these things before they get outta control.

smooshie: Today's nutball in Alabama could be next decade's President, given the oh-so-strong Democratic leadership we've been seeing. Better stop these things before they get outta control.

I'd be willing to bet that "most" people who support these types of politicians do so exactly because the other side won't let them do everything they really want to do.

Their support would drop to the point of fringe-lunatic if there was nobody to babysit them.

puskunk 2005-11-27 09:18:05 PM
We've got that as a no cost alternative to the normal ones here in SC. Thankfully, only about 10% or so actually use them. That's just anecdotal, I can't find any hard numbers.

the yazz 2005-11-27 11:17:15 PM
I'm surprised that it's Democrats who are pushing this legislation. It's just something that they can propose first, and the Republicans will have to go along with it because this sort of thing is their cup of tea.

AirForceVet [TotalFark] 2005-11-28 12:20:09 AM
Just WHERE on Alabama license plates are they going to put "God Bless America?"

There's already so much crap on them already.

maudibjr 2005-11-28 12:34:08 AM
A license plate is issued by the state, why would they want to promote the federal? Wouldn't 'God Bless Alabama" be more appropriate?

/or perhaps 'Bo and Luke Rule'?

I'm all for it. Alabama needs all the blessing it can get.

Thank god we have the separation of church and state, otherwise...

oh nevermind.

Actually there is an organization dedicated to this 'separation of church and state' and I once emailed them about how we have 'in god we trust' stamped/printed on every single piece of currency, and they replied with something along the lines of:

'They're not enforcing any particular religion over any other, they are simply acknowledging the existance of god.'

So, yeah, um, fark the gubment. fark them up their stupid farking asses.

Maybe God will bless Alabama with some representatives who aren't total retards.

JB-NoHo 2005-11-28 01:48:17 AM
I don't. I thought "Land of Toothless Incest" would be a better motto.

But please, you farking religionistas, would you keep your god off my stuff, thank you? 'Cause you know this asstard senator would be the first to complain if some Muslim wanted to have "Praise Allah" on his license plate.

the yazz:

"Democrat" in Alabama is "Republican lite." They don't have Democrats, at least not the sort you're thinking of. Google "Zell Miller" for details (yeah, I know he's from Georgia, but he illustrates the point so well.)

moltov 2005-11-28 01:49:25 AM
I just rtfa and...i can't believe how stupid our elected officials are, and...i can't believe they actually got elected. But then again...

So it's a question of, are they really the bible-thumpers that they appear to be, or are they just playing up to the bible-thumpers because they know that if they appear to believe in god, they will win over the majority of the population, which, sadly, believes they are not in control of their own lives, but instead that their lives are controlled by 'god'?

Daniels 2005-11-28 01:50:44 AM
Oh Gosh, we can't possibly have a federal slogan that's already on all money on a license plate.

God discussion in a thread... make sure everyone knows how enlightened you are by telling people of faith how they are teh st00pid!!!1!1

"Anybody who recognizes God will be respectful of everyone," Martin said."

Is it wrong of me that the first thing my mind went to was the Crusades? All EIGHT of them? (Or nine, depending on if you're counting that first unofficial one?)

chtorran [TotalFark] 2005-11-28 01:52:12 AM
And to everyone who claims that the word "God" is neutral, because it could apply to any religion...

I dare you to put a bumper sticker on your car that says "Allah Bless America" or even better, "America, One Nation Under Allah".

The phrase "God" means the Judeo-Christian God, and you know it.

krovvy 2005-11-28 01:52:13 AM
What better way to show your inclusiveness and tolerance for all than having an free-for-all of bigotry against Christians?

"I'm tolerant, but I just can't stand those people."

JB-NoHo 2005-11-28 01:53:04 AM
yazz and billy-bob: Yeah, true -- in the south "Democrat" doesn't mean what it means up north. Remember the Dixiecrats? Those were the folk who split from the rest of the Democrats because, well, you know... they supported equal rights for N******. But they could never be Republicans, 'cause, well, that was Lincoln's party, and...

Well, Lincoln... [Dixiecrat does Stewie sucking Peter-Teat shudder.]

Gosling [TotalFark] 2005-11-28 01:53:47 AM
Oh, while I'm speaking of Crusades, go Google the Fourth Crusade once. I'm thinking of that Crusade in particular.

JB-NoHo 2005-11-28 01:54:39 AM
Daniels (and all the other Christian apologists here): make sure everyone knows how enlightened you are by telling people of faith how they are teh st00pid!!!1!1

Okay, I'll bite. You are teh st00pid!!!1!1

Last time I checked the US was founded by people who followed the Christian way of life (regardless of what they wanted to say).

Um... horseshiat?

fillahbuster 2005-11-28 01:55:22 AM
omg! God Bless America is going to be on licence plates! The gay concentration camps are only months away! Jews will be herding into gas chambers. Let us look to tolerant Europe for guidance.

Genematrix 2005-11-28 01:55:44 AM
I think it's time for ALABAMA MAN!

It actually kind of depends on the usage. If the word 'god' is in lower-case, it would in fact refer to any god. If 'God' is capitalized, usually you're speaking of the Judeo-Christian God. (If 'God' begins the sentence, it's also usually the Judeo-Christian one. Now, if the sentence started 'Gods', then we could be talking about any god.)

Besides, does anyone really trust god or "God" or whatever? I mean, really. If you truly did, you'd all have won the lottery years ago, right?

Bugs_Bunny_Practiced_Psychological_Warfare 2005-11-28 01:58:38 AM
This is ironic after seeing the headline about tornados "rake" Arkansas:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051128/ap_on_re_us/midwest_tornadoes

Maybe the plates should read "God Bless America...except the state of Arkansas."

/Yes, my HTML skills suck ass.

sremorse 2005-11-28 01:58:49 AM
The license plate already looks gaytastic, why not just top it off?

cenotaph 2005-11-28 01:58:49 AM
"Who cares what other religions will think? Last time I checked the US was founded by people who followed the Christian way of life (regardless of what they wanted to say).
"

Again proving just how poor the American education system is.

(Or, to state it in simple words you can understand - what you wrote is SO NOT TRUE.)

Plunkies 2005-11-28 02:01:48 AM
If God really wanted God Bless America the licence plates he'd have miracled it on there himself. I'm pretty sure he could make that happen if he really felt like it.

I agree. If they keep up this trend, they might have to just replace it with "www.azlyrics.com"

Bah, that sounded more funny in my head.

Stealthdozer 2005-11-28 02:02:16 AM
There is no proof that god exists.

People who believe in god are irrational.

Gosling [TotalFark] 2005-11-28 02:02:56 AM
"Besides, does anyone really trust god or "God" or whatever? I mean, really. If you truly did, you'd all have won the lottery years ago, right?"

Gods mean different things to different people. To some people, their specific gods is/are something to lay down their lives for. That's how you get all these holy wars. To others, religion is simply a moral code to live up to. You can see some examples of that in, for example, Japan, with Buddhism and Shintoism. We in the United States tend to come down somewhere in the middle.

FASIV 2005-11-28 02:03:12 AM
religion should be illegal to practice outside the home. Its just another way to divide society and makes some loot too.

Its easier to control a divided mass then a united one.

Rutir 2005-11-28 02:04:00 AM
bah, i live in alabama, and im not worried. Nothing a lil electrical tape won't be able to fix.
