I know you're joking, but I think you actually hit on something very profound. A lot of Fox News watchers are probably actually thinking that. Gut reaction: he's smiling, he's friendly-looking, how could he be guilty?

It's the same argument-from-gut-reaction that lets Republicans consider photos of smiling children proof that Iraq's coming along fine (a positive gut reaction to how wonderful the images of kids are), or loathe homosexuality (a negative reaction to how icky they find it on a personal level).

Unless I'm mistaken, albo, you yourself have, from time to time, posted pictures of happy, smiling children in Iraq giving the thumbs-up sign and treated those photos as proof that everything's fine in Iraq. In other words, the pictures spoke louder to you than the statistics and reports on ongoing violence, water potability problems, electrical outages, and dead Americans and Iraqis.
