Everyone is put on Earth for a purpose.

Ric Romero

Unfortunately, for some of us, it's ending up as fodder for Fark.

darkyn [TotalFark] 2005-10-19 08:13:42 PM
Now that's some ground-reaking journalism. Maybe he's just the right guy to break that whole Iran-Contra story wide open.

I hate blogs. Almost as much as I hate jam bands.

Anyone with a computer can become their own publisher on the internet.

14,000,000 blogs already and 80,000 new ones each day (according to cnetnews.com). This thing is gonna' catch on soon.

Fark is on their top 100 list

(new window pops)

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not get too bogged down with technical terminology here.

Firstly, what is this "internet" of which you speak? Where can I buy a copy of it for my computer?

I'm not a baby, I'm a MAN, I am an ANCHORMAN! I'm a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science.

Oddly enough, I've been blogging for a few years, but have just recently learned how to Charleston (seriously).

sum_yung_guy 2005-10-19 08:45:25 PM
Just so you all know, I actually work for Ric Romero and you guys need to do some research on this subject of blogging and the internet before you open your mouths and spew misinformation. Some farkers might read your comments and get the wrong idea.

Next week: You can use "Google" which is a "search engine" to find things on the "internet". You just "type" in whatever it is you want to read about, and then push the "enter" button. One of my coworkers showed me how it only took a few seconds!

Richard Pye 2005-10-19 08:50:24 PM

Hello and welcome to last week! I'm Ric Romero.

Woah there killer. Who told you about the interwebs. My Prodigy guy told me tto keep them secret or else my computer would be "hacked" God I hope one of those hat guys...umm.. what where they "black hats" don't go and smash my AT. I paid good "money" for this. Apparently I can go and get more of this "money" as you people call it if I go to some place every day and just do stuff.

I didn't tell anyone about my new blogsite. but, within a few hours after Chris set up my account, three web surfers found it, and posted a note on my blog, welcoming me to the exploding blog community.

Ooookaaay... which three of you did it? Sickos.

Last year, there was a Dateline or some other irrelevant trying to be a show describing the latest internet scam: Porn Dialers!

So, at least ol' Rick is on the far edge of the bell curve when it comes to news shows being in tune with the Intarweb. Sure, he's pretty far up the curve, but unfortunately, he's not on the trailing edge.

It seems that even radio is more up to date than most television news shows. I mean, if I miss a day of Fark in the office, I can always catch it on the drive home from Deminski and Doyle in Detroit (who actually have cited fark on air a couple of times, instead of just ripping them off all the time)

VoterApathy 2005-10-19 08:57:38 PM
Jack Rabbit: Amazing how the two so often go hand in hand.

Jam bands and blogs or lube and back injury?

rdhogan7713 2005-10-19 08:57:48 PM
It's of course great that you can post your thoughts and opinions on the internet for all to read, but what I don't get is why its such a big deal to the news media?

Could it be they are shocked that people actually have opinions? Could it be they are surprised that ANYONE can put their opinion on a device that anyone in the world can read at anytime? Which, prior to the internet, was something only they could do.

theironchef 2005-10-19 08:58:03 PM
The local ABC affiliate here in Richmond occasionally does this incredibly stupid thing where they literally surf the net on the news. Basically it's as if someone surfs sites similar to FARK (sadly, never FARK itself) and then they show the computer screen on the television. Seriously.

And just to be even stupider they will then surf message boards and read the posts concerning current events! I'm not making it up, I swear. The newscaster stands next to a laptop during this segment!

I really hope one day they load a FARK message thread on the air.....

Forsythe P. Jones [TotalFark] 2005-10-19 08:58:21 PM
Oh,what the hell,I'll give it a shot:
