Yet another polar bear rescued from the Puerto Rican circus. I wonder if the mother can still ride that tiny unicycle and juggle bowling pins.

Those little polar bear feet all turned in are so cute. Makes me almost forget that he could rip me to shreds in the blink of an eye.

potato_chip_eating_geek you know polar bears are the most vicous killers in the animal kingdom.

But he's so cuuuuute! I'm going to rush right out and save me a polar bear from the Puerto Rican circus and raise it as my own. And then act shocked when it kills my neighbors' kids.

If you ever have a chance to go to the Detroit Zoo, a visit to the Arctic Ring of Life is the best stop at there.

You walk through glass/whatever tunnels that go under the water exhibit for the polar bears (on one side) and seals ( on the other) and it is freakin' awesome, if not a bit woozy-ish. (alot of people get slightly disoriented in the watery tunnel...it is very wobblying, to say the least.)

Mugato [TotalFark] 2005-08-26 07:40:20 AM
Awwww.

Now let's somehow turn this into an evolution flame war!

WEDNESDAY, August 17: Men struggle during a greased-pole climbing competition in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event was held as a part of the celebrations of the country's 60th independence anniversary.

Greased pole. Tee hee.

That cute thing will grow into a monster.

Hey, they just eat seals. They don't club them and walk away or turn them into mittens.

Alexandra 2005-08-26 08:10:06 AM
That's cute. :) And from the Detroit Zoo.

Want to know something that was really cute? About 20 years ago the Detroit Zoo had these three sea lions, and they loved hamming it up for people...there was this brown one who really loved showing off, and when he would swim around, he would turn over face-up if someone was standing there watching.

I also like the penguins.

Prohest 2005-08-26 08:11:13 AM
Both the happy mother and baby would look great in front of my fireplace!

Twisster76 2005-08-26 08:11:23 AM
Shadow_weaveR Too bad it lives in the Detroit zoo, no nobody will ever get to see it except the people who work there.

The Detroit Zoo is actually located in Royal Oak, MI, nestled between the affluent communities of Pleasant Ridge and Hunington Woods. It is an excellent zoo, with the Arctic Ring of Life as it's centerpiece. Nice attempt on a cheap shot at the City of Detroit, unfortunately you fell short due to ignorance. Better luck next time.

Daedulus 2005-08-26 08:11:51 AM
Picture 33 is just perverted!

Or maybe it's just me.

/Oh, it's me
//Ticket for one, please

Mugato: Hey, they just eat seals.

Would you swim with one, or try to pet it?

Nightsweat 2005-08-26 08:16:12 AM
I saw a bear.

Alexandra 2005-08-26 08:16:26 AM
Twisster76

More like Oak Park and Huntington Woods...I used to live a few blocks from it, on Roanoke. I remember the old zoo entrance, before they did that huge I-696 construction, used to sit right on Ten Mile Road. Used to be an Amy Joy Donuts nearby, and a Red Barn restaurant that later became some arcade...I think Alligator Alley.

I remember in third grade (nearly 25 years ago--where has the time gone) the teacher saying that the Detroit Zoo was actually Detroit...like an American embassy in a foreign country is on American soil.

Awwwww!

Urvan 2005-08-26 08:16:53 AM
If you go out in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the polar bears have their picnic.

Picnic time for polar bears,
The little polar bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily dance about.
They love to play and shout.
And never have any cares.
At six o'clock their mommies and daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they're tired ginormous polar bears.

If you go out in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.

/So going to hell

Alexandra 2005-08-26 08:17:34 AM
I also remember people in the 'burbs getting hacked off because the water tower had Detroit mayor Coleman Young's name on it....

Mugato [TotalFark] 2005-08-26 08:17:57 AM
Would you swim with one, or try to pet it?

That sounds like a bet to me! No I wouldn't. I also wouldn't capture a few and put them in zoos. Wild animals should be left alone.

SomeJerk 2005-08-26 08:19:48 AM
It's probably happy because it just killed some stupid documentary flimmaker.

asm65 2005-08-26 08:22:01 AM
Q: What do you get when you cross a polar bear with a seal?
A: A polar bear.

Q: What has four legs and a flipper?
A: A happy polar bear!
