Nominates headline for "Spiffy".

second.

PC LOAD LETTER [TotalFark] 2005-07-30 10:30:27 AM
On the Jimi Hendrix Stages CD box set, he says "scuse me while I kiss that guy" very much on purpose.

thamike 2005-07-30 10:32:48 AM
That's what I'm telling all the youngins to do when the draft ramps up next year.

thamike: That's what I'm telling all the youngins to do when the draft ramps up next year.

Haha. My best friend went into the military and hated it the whole time. We kept telling him that people would believe he's gay (he was blessed with a pretty face), but he refused to use that lie to get out...

I would have.

Although, it wouldn't be a lie...

strangeguitar 2005-07-30 10:36:27 AM
Being a hardcore Jimi fan, it's hard to believe that it would've taken this long for the records to come out (no pun intended). I can believe that he just said it to get out of there.

Palsy69 2005-07-30 10:43:47 AM
Wow, that really changes my opinion on Hendrix as a role model.

The Real Damien 2005-07-30 11:35:59 AM
Yeah who a person sleeps with so TOTALLY determines whether the music they make is good or bad.......

/yawn.. I SO don't care whether he was gay, used teh ghey to get out of the service, or anything else I still like the music

//I would use teh ghey to get out of the service and would encourage my son to do the same

weave [TotalFark] 2005-07-30 11:49:42 AM
Don't you have to prove you are gay to get discharged? Like service the CO or something?

TMBGfreak 2005-07-30 11:57:33 AM
The army today would most definitely not care.
/my end flame tag is broken

Vertigo20 2005-07-30 12:20:38 PM
Being slightly effeminate, I could totally pull off being gay. Sometimes I'm thankful for that.

Dishonorable Discharge?

/got nothing

wanago bob 2005-07-30 12:22:26 PM
The guy toured with Little Richard. And Little Richard speaks quite fondly of Hendrix. Hendrix toured as an opening act for the Monkees. Don't know what it proves, just saying.

Scrotar 2005-07-30 12:24:12 PM
I'm almost certain that Palsy wasn't being serious.

I foresee this thread somehow turning into a flamewar. What would that be good for, huh?

ultranon 2005-07-30 12:25:30 PM
"Wow, that really changes my opinion on Hendrix as a role model."

You were cool with the fact that he died of inhalation of vomit after barbiturate intoxication, but THIS! This is just too much. You are truly a person of high standards. I applaud you.

/can't dust for vomit

Of course, gays should have the ability to die for the oil industry and corporate interests, just like any other good US soldier.
/bring em back.

Quick, somebody mention M.A.S.H.

sarcasm

Scrotar 2005-07-30 12:30:13 PM
Gary Sinese and John Cusack ever went at it, I think it'd go a little something like this...

ultranon 2005-07-30 12:30:21 PM
Wow, this is just like Klinger in M.A.S.H.

ultranon 2005-07-30 12:31:52 PM
"sarcasm"

I can't believe you just said that. What an idiot.

/start threadjack

On a totally unrelated note, I see by the headline to the right that poor Michael Jackson's latest album has sold a whopping 8,000 copies in the US in its first week of release.

/end threadjack

Nice one, submitter.
Probably the most famous misheard lyric of all time.

Using gayness to escape military service? I'd be discharged in 0.05 seconds.

/is teh ghey
//scuse me while i kiss the sky

dervish16108 2005-07-30 12:33:35 PM
I could pull that off. People say I'm very artsy and metrosexual.

skinink 2005-07-30 12:35:49 PM

Hey Joe, where you going with that penis in your hand ?

penis_gourd 2005-07-30 12:36:38 PM
y'know, back in like 90-91 sometime, friends told me that earlier in the day they'd heard Noel Redding on the Howard Stern show making jokes about Jimi and Mitch Mitchel trading bj's...they claimed it caused a stir on the show.

then when alan douglas released his mid-90's editions of AreYE, Axis-BAL and ElectricL, the liner notes claimed that a major schism occured twixt Jimi and Noel in early '68 when Noel went out of his way to mock and harass a group of drag-queens and gays. Whoever wrote those notes also includes something about "Jimi radiated acceptance of his fellow man in all aspects, including the carnal"

then i read someone claiming that Dolly Dagger was written about a tough dyke Jimi knew, and that the lyrics are "gay-coded".

\don't know if it means anything
\\just sayin'
\\\mmm, slashies!
\\\\"Drone Blues" is my favorite track PERIOD.
\\\\\"Nine To The Universe" is my fave album, PERIOD.
\\\\\\Major Jimi fan here
\\\\\\\...must....stop......slashing.........!

Everyone knows women are completely ineffective soldiers. Fags = women, therefore fags = ineffective soldiers.

Cone of Uncertainty 2005-07-30 12:39:21 PM
"Don't ask, don't tell" will come crashing down as DOD policy if and when they start up the draft again. Otherwise, 60% of young US men will suddenly decide they're gay.

dervish16108 2005-07-30 12:39:42 PM
Bah, feigning gayness to get out of commitments has been done since the beginning of time. Wake me up when you have some real news.

George: Don't you see what it says here? Don't you understand what that's

implying?

Allison: No, what?

George: I'm gay! I'm a gay man! I'm very, very gay.

Allison: You're *gay*?

George: Extraordinarily gay. Steeped in gayness.

Duckiedoo 2005-07-30 12:41:24 PM
It really bothers me how few people are willing to step up and defend their country. Yeah a draft would suck if it came down, but I my son or duaghter was drafted I would at least hope they had the sense of commitment to see their enlistment through. And yes I am currently serving so I can say that :P

Mr Miracle 2005-07-30 12:41:36 PM
he was kinda gay acting so probly was bi
still the best

In an attempt to steer this thread in a bizarre direction, Didn't the Romans, Persians and Greeks all have divisions of shock troops made up of homosexual men?

I believe it's the model used for the British Navy.

StoneyBologna:

Sarcasm, I know, but on a similar note...
I think it's hilarious that whenever I see (out of the closet) gay guys, no matter how ripped, (I always think Boystown, Chicago), they always seem to have that San Franciscan accent.

It's not the weightlifters that would scare me in a fight, as they never seem that tough, just strong. The bears, that's another story.

Fett56 2005-07-30 12:46:00 PM
If a draft came up forcing me to go to Iraq as a private I would probably consider using teh gay to get out of it.

With that said, if there was a real need for our country to be defended, not this bullshiat oil business, I would willingly go.

Doesn't really matter though, I'm currently going through the nomination process for getting into West Point, got the last of my medical exams on monday. If I don't go there I'm doing ROTC.

/should be out of Iraq in 5 years right?

Fett56 2005-07-30 12:47:37 PM
/knows the war in Iraw wasn't about oil

If we were invaded, I'd enlist, sure. But protecting economic interests so corporations can get a little richer and overthrowing regimes we don't like personally? Not too enthused about that.

TearsInTheRain 2005-07-30 12:48:30 PM
i lay my life down for my family, not for my country... ha ha i'm so unpatriotic :)

Here in Seattle , as a city we refuse to honor the man, because of controversy over (rumors of) his behavior.

It's sad. I am sure after a few more decades have passed people will be able to focus on the art.

He was the greatest guitarist, and a great song writer.

People that dont think so should look beyond "Purple Haze" and "Foxey Lady" and check out some of his more obscure material. Thats where the real Jimi is.

Music > Military

Duckiedoo 2005-07-30 12:50:18 PM
And not all who are serving now are either mugato, but we honor our commitment reguardless. seems the number of co's has gone up a bit in the last few years. If you enlist or get drafted for 4 years....go do what ya have to then go your own way

Mugato [TotalFark] 2005-07-30 12:54:53 PM
I honor my government by paying taxes and not trying to weasel out of them like rich Republicans do. But I'm not going to slap my sack on the slab for illegal wars and invasions.

Good point. We should just sit back and wait to be attacked again, and then tell the terrorists and the states that harbor them that if they don't stop it, we'll be really angry, and forced to repeat ourselves in a harsher tone. And really mean it.

GreenPlastik 2005-07-30 12:56:30 PM

Russell Ziskey: We're not homosexuals, but we are willing to learn.
John Winger: Yeah, would they send us someplace special?

Aarowyn 2005-07-30 12:56:47 PM
Teh ghey...hahahahahaha. That is friggin hilarious. Jimi Hendrix opened up allot of doors and was one of the greatest guitarist of all times. If he would have died in vietnam, Rock music may not have taken the direction it did. Some of the greatest music ever recorded came during that era. It was much better than the studio crap that is being spewed out today.

So one of the greatest guitarists of all time will be remembered as a ghey that died from ingesting vomit?

Thanks Seattle.

Thank God Texas knows how to treat greatness.

Rest in peace Stevie Ray Vaughan...

Something doesn't add up in this story.
