As a former lifeguard, I can say y'all would be surprised just how often this happens in pools. Like everyday. Or at least five days a weeks. Nasty, but not something that I would write about in the paper.

The meet will continue in its entirety today, starting at about 8 a.m. The 13-and-over swimmers will have back-to-back sessions, starting with todays original and followed by Saturdays order of events. The second paragraph suggests likely culprits for the first paragraph. I would suggest focusing on the group most likely to come in last.

I did...that was classic. I would have said "pinched a loaf" or "shot a mississippi mudsnake".

Even though the pool was probably 1% urine by that point, it must have sucked for all the kids at the swim meet [since they would have come from all over Arkansas plus some from OK, Missouri, Kansas and maybe Texas. THey would have to stay later today and had to spend all of yesterday with nothing to do in Benton county. I guess they could have gone to see a movie or went to Fayetteville for shopping but otherwise [unless you want to see Highfill] there would be little to do.

Please. I will freely grant that Pulaski is better than Benton county but I think the proximity to Faulkner County along has to bring down your ranking. Plus the presence of the eyesore that is War Memorial Stadium. Besides, Sebastian county lacks the blob like spawl that is everything west of 430.

I am told that the proper term for such an event is "code brown" to distinguish it from the more common "code yellow".

I used to swim competatively when I was a youngin. I swam at that pool many times. But they would have never cancelled a meet for poopy.

There would regulary be logs rolling around in the bottom of the pool I used to practice in. We'd get yelled at if we refused to practice so you just had to be careful not to swallow any water. Though, they would scoop up any floaters with a net. These farkholes would come up with some interesting stuff to toss over the fence into the pool. Usually a ziploc bag of urine. That's also my first introdution to a soiled condom. Oh, boy, I miss Joplin.

Unless Nutt is able to sign Mustain, he can kiss that AD job goodbye. Frank Broyles may not be able to live forever, but he seems to be giving it a shot anyway.

I would count Barling as a mark against Sebastian county but Fort Smith was actually a fairly decent place to live [espically by Arkansas standards] as long as you didn't have to hear Mayor Ray's "Life's worth living quote" more than once a month. But yeah, there was a lot more to do in Washington County. As a fellow Southside Grad [1999] allow me to say I feel your pain.

Go Tideriders indeed. And if possible, beat the team [can't remember which one, think it was from the Little Rock area] that often counted members of some Kansas City squad as part of its team to get more team points.

Cenral Arkansas does have a football team, they borrow the UofA team two or three times a year and act like they are doing the students and the UofA a favor.

the saddest part was that the wal-mart swim club uses one of those 6" plastic pools that they leave outside.

Earlier this year I got my Alumni offer to get tickets for the USC game. I thought about paying $40 for a ticket and driving down from San Francisco to see the game but realized I really didn't want to spent 12+ hours in my car and probably have to get a hotel just to see Arkansas humiliated. Now if they were playing Cal or Stanford I probably would go but to see them get royally destroyed is not worth a long trip. It is sort of sad how little I have bothered following the Backs this year and even more sad how bad they are getting. Hell, they actually were shown on TV here 3 time last season and lost badly in at least 2 of them.

Back in late 03-early 04 when there was the rush to extend Nutt's contract I remember the consensus among my friends being that the new contract with the increaed salary and shot at Frank's job was stupid given the fact that 2004 was going to be a rebuilding year [and that we couldn't understand why Nebraska would be offering what the media said, as was later confimred in the testomony for the Nolan vs UA lawsuit]. Nutt's best teams were recruited by other people and the quality seems to be going downhill every year but now they can't ditch him without eating several million dollars worth of contract. I just wish the stupid trustees didnt feel the need to meddle in things like this and screw everyone over.
