Leaks happen. That's why there's depends.

Stop it completely? No. I don't think any crime ever can be stopped completely.

Episode III of what?

/Don't get up, I'll show myself out.

e-Sensei 2005-05-19 10:50:52 AM
Dear MPAA. Please prosecute those dumb enough to download copies of movies that are splashed all over every blog in the universe. Think of it as electronic\legal darwinism.

dukefluke 2005-05-19 10:51:03 AM
Is the fat kid in it? Cos otherwise, I don't care.

On a piracy theme, did everyone hear about those crazy Dutch and their suggested I-Pod tax? I'll see if I can find a link...

ah, there we go - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/04/27/netherlands_ipod_tax/

Metric crapload?

arsindelve 2005-05-19 10:52:10 AM
Wait 10 hours to download a grainy piece of crap and then watch it on 19 inch screen in stereo, or pay $7.50 to see it on a 19 foot screen in Dolby Digital Surround...tough call, that one.

//Wait, how does popcorn price affect the equation?

Smookyfufu 2005-05-19 10:52:12 AM

I've looked through all my science and engineering texts and I still can't find the conversion to a British Crapload. Can anyone help?

Just remember kids. There are no kids allowed to the showing of this film. If you see the film as a kid, Lucas is not responsible for the nightmares or future axe murders. But, kids, make sure to buy the McToy tie-ins.

/likes IV, V, VI, I...not so much II...and yet to see III

boohiss: Stop it completely? No. I don't think any crime ever can be stopped completely.

What about poking badgers with spoons?

I think if we all put our heads together, we should be able to put an end to this atrocious act of cowardess.

as for the article, .

MrFlibble 2005-05-19 10:53:54 AM
I think 1 metric crapload is about equal to 2.34 tons (US) depending on the strength of the Yen.

Dear MPAA,

Downloading a crappy copy of a movie off the Internet to watch at home on a computer/tv is like having sex with a blow-up doll in the snow.

Nothing compares to the real thing.

Get a clue.

The people that saw the premiere last night must still be sleeping off the 'wait in line 8 hours' bender.

that is all there is to say

I can't wait till we can get Episode IV on line

(somebody had to say it)

OneHotBiscuit 2005-05-19 10:57:25 AM
Gee, why watch a movie on a large screen when you could watch a crappy version on your tiny home computer screen sitting in your uncomfortable desk chair? Where do I sign up?

i-likes-maple-syrup 2005-05-19 10:57:27 AM
I farking loathe and detest the idiots who brag "Oh I have a copy of that" about the movie I've just seen at theatres. You have a very shiatty, farked up version with bad picture and sound. Like every other time this exchange takes place, you will tell me "oh it's totally the same as a DVD". farking retarded asshole idiots.

To you and me, yes, but to the type of dork willing to download a crappy version of the movie, farking a blow-up doll in the snow is their only chance to get laid.

I know I am... and I'll simply review it by saying that yes, it was worth the trouble I went through to see it at midnight on opening day.

The final duel(s!) and the beginning alone make it worth while..

Lebowski78 2005-05-19 10:58:37 AM
I think most people that damn music/movie downloading are too stuppid to figure out how to do it for themselves, therefor bitter, unless ofcourse they're an artist and have to lease a porsche instead of that ferarri they wanted. I say life is expensive enough. Let the artists tour if they want a ferarri, and if a movie's good, it makes TONS of money at the box office, regardless of copies.

Diabolic 2005-05-19 10:58:46 AM

obvious, yes, is it.

Modified Cornstarch 2005-05-19 10:58:52 AM
I was hoping that this would be the end, but now with the movies going to be made into 3D Features, I think I just can't take hype anymore...

I just might give books a chance.

JoshTheTech 2005-05-19 10:58:58 AM
Great so now I can not go to a theater to see it AND, not watch it online.

LopEye 2005-05-19 10:59:52 AM
Yet somehow this movie will still make hundreds of millions of dollars. MPAA- "We would have made and extra 5 billion but for those damn pirates!"

what a load of shiat... i'll download it, and i'm seeing it this afternoon. how does that figure into their statistics?

Clavis 2005-05-19 11:00:19 AM
Fark you losers. I've already got a copy of Episode VII.

GurneyHalleck [TotalFark] 2005-05-19 11:00:28 AM
Everyone's got a friend who downloads everything while it's in the theaters. I think it's cool to be able to say that you have the newest movie already downloaded and all, but actually sitting down to watch a grainy, pixealted, crappy sounding copy just isn't worth the time in most cases.

Now pirated p0rn, that's a totally different ball of wax.

I'm leaving to see it in about 15 minutes. I may or may not download it, depending on the quality...

Ant 2005-05-19 11:04:48 AM
I don't see how the online availability of a movie supposedly has such a huge effect on ticket sales. Any copy that's out now is going to be of extremely crappy quality, and anyone who'd skip going to the theater to see Ep III in favor of watching the crappy version on their computer probably wasn't going to go to the theater anyway

NCg8r 2005-05-19 11:05:11 AM
hehehh... I don't know what you're talking about...

/still gonna wait until I see it in a theater before watching it

MobNauzeum 2005-05-19 11:05:51 AM
DONT BOTHER -

It's rubbish! (and mods: no this isn't a repeat post!)

Some of the worst acting I've seen in a Hollywood film in years.

e.g. the scene in which Obi Wan watches the hologram of Anakin killing the Jedi then turns away and says "I can't watch anymore" - Look out for this part it made me cringe like a cringey thing.

Lucas' dialogue is mostly crap and this means the actors have no decent material to work with. He's also made all of the droids into camp, squeaking, slapstick characters that make you laugh for all the wrong reasons

It's an ok space-yarn but it is NOT the masterpiece some people make it out to be.

ElGatoDiablo 2005-05-19 11:06:51 AM
For those of us in the states it's no contest. Seeing it on the big screen will be worth the $6-$10 you'll have to shell out. However, this movie is not opening in every country this weekend. Some aren't getting it until summer and others probably not for even longer. Considering this is of much better quality then the average pirated release done with a digital video camera I'm sure it's worth a lot to the little star wars fans of africa.

Does the girl stormtrooper have nipples on her armor?

/Just wondering
