Ken's wife, Barbie, finally lets him sleep on the bed.

d1rty_sanchez 2004-06-17 05:08:21 PM
I thought they stopped you at five victories.

brodyvess 2004-06-17 05:09:53 PM
They used to stop you, this season they changed the rules so you just keep going.

Fallout- I'm on the east coast, so I'm an hour ahead of you. It must just be a market difference. Either that, or my station plays it twice a day.

(shrug)- at least you didn't give away final jeporady.

flip_flop [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 05:23:12 PM
Ken was quoted as saying "I'm not gonna stop 'till I win eleventy bizillion dollars".
/but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express.

That guy is a dweeb.

Smart dweeb.

Rich, smart dweeb.

brap [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 05:41:10 PM
Ken Jennings.

Who is my new best friend?

Right!

And brap retains control of the board.

muldster 2004-06-17 05:48:58 PM
I can't wait to watch it tonight.

esme [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 05:59:51 PM
aw, crap, muldster. i was just going to post the results.

i won't ruin it, i guess.

MovieQuoter 2004-06-17 06:00:43 PM
I caught Jeopardy last night, and this guy was impressive, he wasnt even really trying, or working hard, it was like asking someone how to make toast... This guy is impressive

bawanaal 2004-06-17 06:07:33 PM
I bet Sean Connery or Turd Ferguson could take him.

/Suck it, Trebek!

TommyymmoT [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 06:27:28 PM
What is.....who the hell cares?

RandyJohnson 2004-06-17 07:34:18 PM
He is no Lt. Thom Mckee. I think he won somewhere around 45 games of Tic-Tac-Dough, and around $300,000. I know this guy has won more money, but this was 25 or so years ago. With that said, I have seen 5 or 6 of this guys games, and he is impressive.

/avoid the dragon

Eeek [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 07:34:42 PM
People do, TommyymmoT. As shown in the posts above yours. I hope they haven't offended you too much. I whole heartily apologize for people having interest in things that you don't find intresting. Please forgive me.

TommyymmoT [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 07:52:00 PM
Eeek

Actually, I watch Jeopardy quite a bit, as I am currently. I have no idea, or logical explaination why I posted that, and appologise for it. I must have become tainted by the liters during my brief excursion there during the "millionth" thread.

Actually, the most entertaining Jeopardy contestant I've ever seen, was Brett Butler.
Playing against an astronaut (Neil Armstrong?) , and a physicist, she was toying with them. She caught all 3 daily doubles, and bet everything each time. She was wiping the floor with them until she blew it on her last DD. It was very impressive.

TommyymmoT [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 07:58:41 PM
Is anyone else watching it right now? (7:30-8:00 Eastern)
I won't spoil it for the left coasters by saying who won, but here is the final question:

In the NATO phonetic alphabet, (alpha, bravo etc) name the 2 that are title Shakespearean characters.

MrBeefy 2004-06-17 08:02:46 PM
We watched this Ken guy on Jeopardy last week. He wipes the floor with everyone else with frightening ease.

Kudos to him.

/Cram it, Trebek.

Zolkalter 2004-06-17 09:27:50 PM
Not bashing this guy, because he's much smarter than I, but does it seem like they have dumbed down the questions in recent years? It just doesn't seem that hard anymore.

galumph200 2004-06-17 10:01:32 PM
TommyymmoT

Juliet & Romeo.

Can I be rich now, too?

galumph200 2004-06-17 10:02:41 PM
Er, I mean "Who are Juliet & Romeo?"

Pierogie 2004-06-17 10:02:41 PM
I'll take potent potables. Again and again and again.....

red_beard_neo 2004-06-17 10:03:03 PM
In the NATO phonetic alphabet, (alpha, bravo etc) name the 2 that are title Shakespearean characters.

Dante and Randall?

/got nuthin'

nakmg12 2004-06-17 10:03:08 PM
What is Romeo and Juliet TommyymmoT?

/Seen it in the Mountain Time Zone today.

Dr3w 2004-06-17 10:03:09 PM
this guy averages about $35,000 a night, and he has actually totalled more than $400,000. i just like how hard he's taking it to merv griffin. pretty expensive publicity.

The_Escapist 2004-06-17 10:04:22 PM
Zolkalter -- that's because you started watching it in 1985 when you were a little kid and all of the questions were hard. Now you're older and smarter and they seem easier. Common mistake.

/I have no idea how old Zolkalter is; I'm just bustin' his balls a bit

wydok 2004-06-17 10:04:30 PM
That's a average of $34,181.82 per show. Damn!

I love Jeopardy.

KerwoodDerby 2004-06-17 10:04:41 PM
Watch out! You could be like Weird Al:

Well, I knew I was in trouble now
My hope of winning sank
Oh, 'cause I got the Daily Double now
And then my mind went blank
I took Potpourri for one hundred
And then my head started to spin
Well, I'm givin' up Don Pardo
Just tell me now what I didn't win, yeah, yeah

I lost on Jeopardy, baby (oooh)
I lost on Jeopardy, baby (oooh)

That's right, Al--You lost. And let me tell you what you didn't win: a twenty volume set of the Encyclopedia International, a case of Turtle Wax, and a year's supply of Rice-A-Roni, the San Francisco Treat. But that's not all. You also made yourself look like a jerk in front of millions of people. You brought shame and disgrace to your family name for generations to come. You don't get to come back tomorrow. You don't even get a lousy copy of our home game. You're a complete loser!

/Ouch!

DanBro 2004-06-17 10:05:08 PM
My last name is Jennings... do I get something?

peter_hook 2004-06-17 10:05:16 PM
If you watch what he does, he buzzes in, THEN THINKS, then answers.

The other players think, then buzz in. By then, it's too late; he's already won.

IronChefRichmond 2004-06-17 10:05:19 PM
I'll take famous tittes for $500.

Pierogie 2004-06-17 10:05:53 PM
Might Jeopardy be the greatest game show ever (excluding reality shows)? Or maybe TPIR? Discuss.....

The_Escapist 2004-06-17 10:06:18 PM
If you look in the bag, you'll see Ken's wallet. It's the one that says "Bad Motherfarka" on it.

JOEKC 2004-06-17 10:06:24 PM
I have a theory on Ken. He keeps winning because he's afraid to go home. Early in his streak he selected the category "Bloodsuckers" (it was about bats, lampreys, etc.) with the comment, "My father's a lawyer, so I'll take Bloodsuckers."

As long as he keeps winning he doesn't have to face Dad. Dad will probably sue him.

oldebayer [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 10:06:33 PM
I am impressed with this guy, but would be more impressed if Jeopardy ever responded to the hundred times I signed up for their contestant searches on their stupid web site. Then I could get on the show and lose fair and square. BTW, I got at least half a dozen answers that this guy didn't.

PottyMcNugg 2004-06-17 10:07:02 PM
Ok, who won?

wydok 2004-06-17 10:07:09 PM
That's $76,363.64 an hour.

The_Escapist 2004-06-17 10:07:53 PM
Very few people know this, but Ken is the nephew of that dude who figured out the whammy-avoiding pattern on "Press Your Luck," thus causing that show to fold.

Megain [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 10:09:25 PM
lol, JOEKC. i didn't catch that one

i work with lawyers. he's justifiably afraid

ltb 2004-06-17 10:10:08 PM
he's got the buzzer timing down better than anyone i've ever seen.

that's why he's winning.

anyone on the show can (usually) answer a majority of the questions - it's all about being able to get in and being given the opportunity to answer.

jack21221 2004-06-17 10:12:07 PM
/the rapists for 20.

kronicfeld [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 10:13:07 PM
The questions on Jeopardy really are getting easier; it's not just a function of getting older and being more educated.

This guy may be smart, but he's nothing compared to TIC-TAC-THOM

Daraymann [TotalFark] 2004-06-17 10:13:35 PM
Does anyone else remember that "Whammy" game show where that one guy just stood there, got the pattern down (what a smart farking idea) and took home way too much money for the show to afford?

$5,000 + one turn
$5,000 + one turn
$5,000 + one turn
$5,000 + one turn........

ksegedi 2004-06-17 10:13:46 PM
<cocky>bastard</cocky> He is the king of his geekdom. My theory: he has multiple wives, needs the cash. My beef: he is a wussssss on final jep. I mean who in their right mind bets on 3 grand when you are up almost 20?

/envy

ToStupidTooCare 2004-06-17 10:13:51 PM
figured out the whammy-avoiding pattern on "Press Your Luck," thus causing that show to fold.

huh? since when did that cause the show to fold? press your luck has been on years and years since that happened.

i hope this guy ends up better than the press your luck guy - he ended up being a wal-mart worker after all was said on done. snopes.com has the details on it.

modernhamlet 2004-06-17 10:14:21 PM
RandyJohnson

Damn. Beat me to it.

That guy was unstoppable!

/raised on television

ArcadianRefugee 2004-06-17 10:17:00 PM
I pose a conundrum to ya, a riddle if you will. What's the difference between you and a Mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck ... I can't remember how it ends, but your mother's a whore.

/Suck it, Trebek. Suck it long, and suck it hard.

for good or for awesome 2004-06-17 10:17:02 PM
I remember when they just started the no limit rule to wins. There was this tall lawyer that was killing everyone and I swear that he threw the last one he played to get back to his life. They should bring him back to get Ken. They have to do something because now he is comfortable on stage and a killer.

southgoingzax 2004-06-17 10:17:04 PM
well now that they don't force 5 time champions to retire, i guess it's finally time for me to sign up.

i'm watching jeopardy right now. this ken dude is a savant. i think after 11 wins, he just doesn't give a fark, and he rings in on every question, whether he knows the answer or wants to guess.

BigWhitey 2004-06-17 10:18:53 PM
Dude is up over 410K now. That being said, I'd beat him like I was his pimp and he owed me money.

/pimp hand is ALWAYS strong

Agnosto 2004-06-17 10:22:18 PM
He's good.. But he's a mormon.. They are weird...
